Hello and happy start to a fresh week! How are you feeling this morning? Dragging and tired from the weekend? Revived, energized, and ready to hit the ground running? Somewhere in between?
I had an energizing weekend. A few things that filled my cup were football watching with the family (that Friday Miami/Louisville game was thrilling, and then both GT and Georgia pulled out wins- wahoo!), enjoying our neighborhood Oktoberfest on a beautiful fall evening, and spending a rainy Sunday afternoon cooking, baking, and watching Halloween movies with the kids. This is 42. And I’m a fan.

Quick tangent: see that wall to the right of the TV where the fiddle leaf fig is? What do I do with it? I love the idea of a gallery wall, but how high up would I have to take it? Would it look better with one large piece of art? Or two large vertically stacked pieces of art? It’s my next home decor mountain to tackle and I’m stumped.
Speaking of home decor, I added decorative light plates to our powder room and switched out my taper candle for this cordless LED lamp with three brightness settings. I adored the candle, but with so many kids around when we have friends over it felt dangerous to have a lit candle in there. Instead, this lamp offers the perfect soft glow for early mornings and evenings. I like the ambiance and function it offers 48 hours of glow time before needing to be recharged. Given that I only have it on a couple of hours a day, that works out pretty well!

Ok, tangents over. Let’s focus on this week ahead. Today is going to be a get things done day for us. I’m still trying to figure out our homeschool rhythm with our new co-op structure. The kids are often ready to dive into their assigned work, so our morning time has been squashed. So I’m pivoting. Our morning time will now become our lunch time and I’m quite excited about it. The girls can hop right into lessons and by the time they are burning out, I’ll have lunch ready and we’ll rotate through our morning time activities then. Today that means reading The Hobbit and working on the puzzle currently monopolizing our dining table.
Today will be a get things done kind of day in our homeschool. I love having Monday free from activities because it makes it a really productive day for us. By Tuesday things switch into warp speed and stay that way until Friday morning. So today I’m organizing my week and picking my top three priorities. Here’s what I’ve got!
- Get outside everyday. This is a pretty easy one to accomplish with an active breed dog, but I want to challenge myself to be outside beyond our daily hike through the woods. Each day I’m going to spend at least 20 minutes in the garden (starting to sprout!), with the chickens, watering my almost dead mums, pulling yard weeds, or other outside task. I love this season; gotta make the most of it!
- Finish my gift guides. Ohh I’m SO excited about these gift guides this year. I’ve already spent a few hours compiling my ideas, but now I’m finetuning them by reading customer reviews and feedback to ensure I’m linking to the best of each option. It’s tedious, but also fun because it’s helping me with my holiday shopping at the same time!
- Eat the frog on my admin tasks. I currently have a list of appointments (dentist, derm) I need to schedule, emails I need to respond to, and gifts I need to secure and send. My goal is to have these all checked off by Friday. Gosh that’s going to feel good!
Alright, my mind is set, my coffee has kicked in, and it’s time to get rolling! What does your week look like? What will you accomplish this week? Feel free to share; I’d love to hear what’s happening in your neck of the woods!

Regarding the wall next to the fig tree, I’m leaning more towards a large painting to fit that spot vs a gallery wall or two pieces of art. Is that a mirror on the left wall? Maybe a large art piece and have it be in line with the mirror so one is not higher than the other?! I’m not a design pro so could be totally wrong! We have family visiting starting tomorrow so I feel like I won’t be as productive just busier with the hosting duties. But that’s probably just me thinking I have to do all the things. Have a great week!

To the left is another archway, not a mirror. I like the idea of a piece of art, but how big? I don’t think it should be right inline with the archway but if it lands just below the arch, will the rest of the huge blank wall look unbalanced? I really want to go full on Harry Potter dormitory effect and fill the whole wall with a gallery wall buuuuut that might be a bit much- LOL! Thank you for the input! Hope you have a great week with your family!! <3

I’m hoping for a “normal” week and also to be able to condense my grad schoolwork into 2 days, this week and moving forward. I’ve reflected a lot of the first quarter of teaching along with my first 8-week semester for my masters classes. Somehow I managed to stay mostly healthy but the pace and habits are not sustainable. I need to add back in my mile run somehow, and likely after school since I’m not a fan of running in the dark. I’m starting that today, even though I also need to hit up the grocery store after. I was getting zero outdoor time during the week first quarter and that’s not good. Eating hasn’t been great either, so I’m hoping to figure out how to fit more cooking time in at home. Strength training has been in the mornings in my office and that has been working. And fortunately, I’m on my feet and running around all day anyways so even without the intentional cardio I still get a ton of movement. Here’s to continuous improvement! Have a wonderful week! Also would probably lean towards larger artwork for a tall wall. And you already know I’m going to recommend photography for that artwork:)
