We’ve been in our new home for over 6 months now and I don’t think I’ve really shown you anything but the pantry (which needs an updated picture because it now has an entire shelf of homemade pickles that makes me puff out my chest big time every time I see it).
I guess in my head I picture all these home design blogs (which I am not) with stunning before and after pictures. I keep waiting to get my spaces to the final “after” with all the touches before sharing and because of that, I have nothing to show.
But I’ve changed my thinking. Our homes are supposed to be ever evolving spaces, aren’t they? I’ve been adding to ours, but also being cautious to only add things we love. I’m a firm believer that home design should reflect the person living there. I love when I walk in a friend’s home and it just feels like them, you know?
With this goal in mind, I’ve tried to understand style concepts, but also go boldly in the direction of things that make me feel joy. After all, my family and I are living our lives in this space and I want it to feel like us and serve us, with ultimately function trumping form in some areas (like our coffee table that most would say doesn’t “go” with the living room but serves as a sturdy base for our chess board, shut the box, and kids sitting on top of it.
With that lengthy explanation out of the way, I’m excited to share with you a space that I’ve been most excited about transforming- our powder room!
I was excited to personalize this space because it’s a room everyone will see and it’s small enough to add a lot of personality to fairly quickly. Here’s a look at what it looked like when we moved in:
.
I loved the bones of this room. It’s large window letting in plenty of natural light. The light floors and the neutral cabinet and counter tops with a champagne bronze faucet. However, the Greek Villa walls made the space feel so sterile. One might argue that sterile is good for a bathroom, but I was excited to really lean into this space and go bold.
And bold I went! I found a wallpaper I loved and got on the install schedule of Mike Bradshaw (who was wonderful to work with!), and soon enough, my powder room transformed into this:
.
This space now makes me smile every time I walk by it! I love the colors, the bold floral pattern, and the warmth and personality of the space.

Is it completely “done?” Probably not, so. I’d love to get a framed piece of some kind of art to go over the toilet, but art is something I’m having the hardest time with in our home. I want and need it on the walls but also don’t want to go pick out random pieces that don’t speak to me in some way, so I figure some of that will have to come with time.
Ok, one last before and after for fun; and thank you for stopping by my powder room! 🙂
