Hey y’all! I’m sitting on the porch as I type and it is colddddd (50’s). It has me feeling all sorts of excited that fall and Friday are both here. It’s been a very full week around here and wanted to share a little of what we’ve been up to…
What I’ve Been Eating
We had one glorious day on sunshine in a long stretch of rain, so the girls and I grabbed brunch after bootcamp at Whole Foods. I took advantage of their last day of $0.25 coffee and we all shared a big plate of good food.
I put my slow cooker to work one night with beef, beer and Mexican spices. The house smelled great but I ended up eating so many bites of the girls’ dinner that I was only hungry enough to manage a smaller plate- still delicious because when are Mexican-inspired meals not?
Then there was a hearty pulled pork platter with (very good) collard green and (perfectly battered) onion rings. David, Hailey and I chowed down at Queen City Q in uptown Charlotte before heading to…
What We’ve Been Up To
DISNEY ON ICE! We scrambled this week for last minute tickets and I’m so glad we did. David and I surprised Hailey and she had no clue where we were going until we walked in the building. She was just ecstatic to be dressed up and seeing other princesses so when her two favorite things (princesses and ice skating) combined into one show, she lost her mind.
I was teary-eyed more than once just watching her joy. I had so many of those “these are the magical times of childhood- sniff” moments.
The show was very good and we had great seats. Pretty awesome evening.
Earlier this week I also was invited to another advisory panel at our local Whole Foods.
I love these opportunities to learn and give feedback about our local store and sample all sorts of delicious food and drink, including this wine.
It’s only $3.99 and a great option for an everyday wine. Thumbs up!
What I’m Loving
Sampler plates for toddlers. Sometimes I give myself a hard time because I feel like I was much more proactive with giving Hailey different flavors and textures to explore when she was a young toddler. I don’t have the same time now with two (#secondchildproblems) but have started picking up different items from the pickle bar/salad bar/olive bar to let Kaitlyn experience more unique flavors.
It’s fun for everyone! Dolmades- good. Marinated mushrooms- bad.
Fabletics! (<– referral link) I know I am late to the party, but I’m finally interested in getting more work out clothes since I wear them 80%of the time and I’m at a size I’ll probably be for a while. I was sent this off the shoulders shirt, which I ADORE.
The 80’s are making a comeback right? My hair hopes so.
And also this tank.
It’s a little long for my petite stature, but I love the color.
I’m also getting a kick out of 4 year old antics. Instead of napping (because those days are long gone), she “decorated” her room.
Poor child gets my sense of design and style. Sorry kiddo, I wish I could show you how to make beautiful rooms like my friend Courtney’s living room.
Is it weird that I take pictures of my friends’ spaces and post them on this blog? Yes, yes it is. But I did ask permission while at our new bible study group that I’m loving being a part of.
Ok, let’s finish it up here…

I have been loving the start of October this week. On my birthday (Sep 30th) I pull out all the Halloween decorations and we start decorating… it’s taking a lot longer than usual with two kids, but we’re having fun finding places for everything!

I’ve been enjoying my last couple weeks of fun-employment before my new job starts by baking up a storm of pumpkin goodies! I’ve also been running a lot and enjoying the start of autumn, although the rain this week in New England has put a literal damper on things π Hailey looks SO happy to be at Disney on Ice!

-Wyatt who’s almost 3.5 has really started resisting naps. Most of the time he’s whispering & jumping all over his room being a superhero fighting the bad guys. It’s driving me nuts because our evenings are more difficult b/c he really needs a little nap.
-All of the new fashion trends remind me of the 80s! Especially some of the boots/booties with cut out/geometric designs.
-I wish my living room was cute like your friends & that Home Depot picture is hilarious!
-This weekend Jared & I are going to the N.GA mountains (kid free) to the place where we were married 5 yrs ago (Brasstown Valley). No real plans, just hangin’ out! I’m pumped!

I started off the week on a good note after reading your post on choosing joy. We’ve had lovely sunshine all week in London which has made for fun visits to the park post school pretty much every day. I love having some spare time in my hands now and have had a headstart in planning my daughter’s 3rd visit. A great end to a positive week.

Iβve been loving the increased use of your Instagram, Brittany! All of your food is stunning! Seriously, I donβt know how you make each meal look like a work of art. Love that Hailey got to experience Disney on Ice! I didnβt see that particular show as a child, but my parents would take me to ice skating shows, and they stand the test of time for my memories. Iβll never forget how wonderful they were. Have a happy weekend Brittany! π

I can remember my grandpa taking me to Beauty and the Beast on ice as a kid, and I’ve taken my little brother to a few different disney on ice’s in the last couple years. We’ve actually been able to get front row seats which has been amazing!!

We’re doing Disney on Ice in a couple weeks and I’m super excited. We’re going to surprise her too! Just let her pick a dress to wear and then go. Ahhh I can’t wait.

Love that Home Depot meme!! Looks like fun π
We got the paddle pool out this weekend and my 2 year old had a couple of her buddies come for a play. My heart was exploding with joy watching them all play so happily in the sunshine π hurray for spring!!
