Hello and happy Friday! Let’s catch up!
Hailey lost her third tooth this week. It was a top front tooth that has been dangling by a thread for ages so I was practically giddy when she agreed to let me give it a little tug. It turns out she was so hesitant to lose it because she has misplaced her special tooth pillow and was terrified the Tooth Fairy would be mad.
Luckily, the Tooth Fairy is very understanding (the triangular arrow was pointing to where she left her tooth since her pillow is temporarily MIA).
I’m soaking in the last one my one of one time with my girls (they alternate days they attend), as preschool is nearing the end of the year. I hadn’t had a pedi in months, so on a whim I decided to bring Kaitlyn along and hope for the best.
She blew my mind! Why do kids always behave better for others? Anyway, I was grateful. She seemed in awe of the place and sat still while the nice man painted her nails. She’s all ready for her birthday now! (3 years old… hold me.)
We had Mother’s Day Tea at preschool this week. It’s a special morning where the teachers and kids prepare to spoil us with special songs and crafts they’ve spent months working on. I’m so grateful for our incredible preschool teachers and despite the tears that started falling down my face as I walked into Hailey’s room, it was all so beautiful. Definitely my favorite preschool day of the year.
In big FOOD news, I picked up my first CSA box this week. Check it out:
Anyone want to come over for a massive salad?!
Speaking of coming over, we are hosting a backyard cookout on Saturday afternoon. It’s a family-friendly event that we are passing off as Kaitlyn’s 3rd birthday party. There is a cake and a bounce house, but we didn’t want anyone to feel they needed to bring a gift, so it’s just a big ‘ol cookout. I’m super excited to hang out with friends and am now just hoping the weather cooperates. At least it has forced us to tidy up the yard a bit!
Three Things I’ve Loved Lately
1. My new Dry Brushing set. I feel I’m years behind on this trend, but supposedly it naturally stimulates the lymphatic system, improves blood circulation and helps your body eliminate accumulated impurities. Sounds like quite the tall order, but at the very least the skin on my arms has become smoother and softer, so I’m going to stick with it for a bit.
2. Books on CD. Hailey asked to get this on our last library visit and I didn’t expect much. However my mind was blown when both girls listened intently to the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Beyond that, I learned that the shoes in the original book are SILVER, not ruby red? I feel like I’ve been fed lies my whole life…
3. Maxi dresses. I love them. I wore this one to Mother’s Day Tea and it felt like I was wearing pajamas. Plus, I didn’t have to worry about staying covered when I squeezed into one of those tiny preschool chairs. Win!
Unrelated: I really want this bathing suit after seeing it on Caycee.

Excuse me while I lather my children in this toxic death cream: A line in it reminded me yet again how all us moms are more alike than different: We are all just out there slogging it out. Doing our best to raise our kids. To keep them safe. To protect them from the big bad world.
I can’t believe I’ve never marinated vegetables before roasting and now I’m excited to give this simple recipe a try!
This article sums up many of my beliefs on parenting: Have American parents got it all backwards?
What to Do When a Friend Loses a Baby. What Lindsay has been through is just unimaginable and heartbreaking. How she is able to continue being open about her experience is incredible to me. I’m a little awkward in grief, and I found her tips so helpful.
Make Ahead Vegan Cinnamon Rolls. Because I trust anything Angela publishes will be delicious.
Confession: I don’t own a single piece of shapewear, but I think it would be a good idea to invest in a few pieces for certain outfits. This post on different types of shapewear was super helpful to me as a shapewear newbie!
And in case your May is a little crazy like mine, a picture to make you laugh on your way out:
Have a wonderful weekend!
What is going on with you and what have you been loving lately?

Oh my gosh mom and daughter nail dates sound amazing! It’s one of my favorite things to do now with my mom! I love how much your girls school does for moms also, I can’t wait for our son to get into a preschool (okay, yes I can wait I love him home!) just for those art projects and gifts coming home!

It really is the cutest thing ever. Kaitlyn stood in the front, loud and proud, belted out her song which went: Mommy mommy I love you yes I yes I yes I do! (adorable)

I love that maxi! And one day, I’m going to steal your girls so I can get a mani/pedi with them. 😉 Can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

Love love the toxic death cream article!! It’s just what I needed after freaking out about whether I can make it nursing until a year (lol just one more month, and 11 months of nursing and pumping at work is pretty darn good) and because I accidentally fed my daughter sweet potatoes twice today and I thought she would mind (um what??)….so thank you for sharing 🙂

I’ve been doing really great with meal planning our food budget and loving it. I am not loving the fact that my son has the flu. This season has been the worst!
