Monday, Monday. I’m ready for you! …well, I’m hoping I will be after this cup of coffee. Being that I’m usually a decaf gal, I should be buzzing around the house in no time, which is good because I have quite the ambitious to do list set out for today. It’s surprising that I have a long list because this weekend was quite productive (and fun!) with David’s mom and dad in town visiting.
The biggest check off the list? My new double ovens are installed!!
I have yet to wake up in the morning without smiling and saying hello to them. I think it may be love. After all, without the oven, I wouldn’t have stood a chance at creating these Garlic Parm Sweet Potato Fries.
We didn’t spend all weekend in the kitchen, though. We ventured out so Mema could buy Hailey her first pair of shoes.
They have little bear ballerinas on them and Hailey loves them! Well, she liked wearing them and chewing on them. I’m sure soon enough she’ll realize their real purpose.
Hailey looked so styling in her new kicks, that I didn’t want to be left behind, so my feet got a treat, too.
I didn’t realize how worn out my old shoes were until I put these on. These Brooks Ravennas make me feel like I could run forever… or wog a 10k, which is good because David and I are going to sign up for this one in Davidson on Hailey’s first birthday! I love how supportive these shoes are. I over pronate and the Ravennas help correct it.
But we weren’t all chores and exercise this weekend. There was food, too.
And relaxation.
And a special treat- meal planning in bed Sunday morning.
Now, we’re to Monday. It’s 9:40am and I already have 3.5 miles under my belt, along with breakfast, a shower and the first load of laundry. Luckily the caffeine is kicking in now and hopefully I’ll buzz through emails, phone calls and a few more household chores before H wakes up. Wish me luck!
How often do you get new running shoes?
It’s been TWO YEARS since my last new pair of running shoes. That’s before I was even pregnant. Holy moly.

Hailey’s little shoes are PRECIOUS! 🙂
Urban Wife says
I love my Ravennas! I pretty much have 2 pairs in rotation at any given time and buy a new pair every 6 months or so, depending on the shoe mileage.
Brittany says
What kind of shoe mileage do you wait to hit before buying new shoes?
Urban Wife says
Typically, 300-400 miles. Depending on how much I run per week, a pair can last me 5-6 months.
Jen says
Ahh baby shoes! SO cute! I’m a Brooks girl, too, but I wear the Adrenalines. So glad you got a new pair!
Lindsey says
When I was running more about every 4-5 months and I always kept two pairs going at a time. Now I have one older pair I use for cross-training and strength and I just bought new minimalist runners, my last pair lasted me about 7 months.
Jealous of your double wall oven!
Kelly@Runmarun says
Looks like an amazing weekend! Yay for your double ovens! I’m glad that you got some new running shoes- they can often make a huge difference when you’re out there. Have a great week!
Danielle @ Long May You Run says
I’m so glad you decided to do the Davidson 10k! It’s a great race, I’m sure you’ll love it (I’m really bummed I won’t be able to do it this year myself :/ ). Also a Brooks girl, I go through about 4 pairs of shoes per year. So I guess… every 3 months?! To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I bought non-running shoes!! There are places to by them for less $$ than running stores though, so if you need those resources, let me know. Run happy!
Brittany says
Thanks so much for the race suggestion! I won’t lie, I’m very nervous, but excited. I love when I hear of real runners, like you ;), that like Brooks. It makes me feel like I made a good decision!
Liz @ IHeartVegetables says
Isn’t it crazy when you finally get new shoes, and it makes you realize how badly you needed them?! Yours are super cute too!! 🙂
Danica @ It's Progression says
I love getting new workout shoes (who doesn’t) but I absolutely hate forking out the money for them so I know I don’t get them nearly as often as I should!
Brittany says
Same here! It’s so funny that I hate spending so much on them, but I probably wear them more than most other shoes I own.
Autumn@Good Eats Girl says
You just reminded me…I need new running shoes, too! I’ve had mine for over a year and it’s definitely time for new!
Maria says
I wear minimalistic running shoes and it becomes very apparent when I need new ones (pain in my feet!), which is about every 10-12 months. Well, depending on how much or little I run 🙂
Kailey says
now that burger looks like the perfect summer BBQ meal 🙂 Yummy!
Lisa says
Your double ovens are looking wonderful all installed! You’ve definitely reminded me I need to get new runners, I haven’t bought a new pair in at least a year and a bit. Yikes…
Katie, @cltmomfaves says
I have the Ravennas too and love them. I’m kinda hooked on Brooks!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Since I’ve started running, I try to keep track of the number of miles I’ve run in them. But before I ran, I was horrible about replacing tennis shoes … I would wait 2 or 3 years in between!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I’m SO jealous of your ovens!!!!
Belinda says
Oh wow! I just bought Brooks Ravennas a few weeks ago! I love them too 🙂 It freaked me out a little when I saw the name because I’ve been researching the Monster of Ravenna (a monstrous creature supposedly born in the 1500s) for a book chapter I’m writing. So my shoes are awesome… and creepy, haha 🙂
blackhuff says
The pen you are using, I use the precise one as well. They write so comfortably.
Great weekend you all had.
Lynn says
Hi Brittany. I get running shoes about every 4 months. My knees let me know it is time. I walk about 4.3 miles most days. I might try those shoes you mentioned.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I just got new ones! I saw the Brooks line and thought they looked awesome, but went with Nikes because I was so attracted to the light blue color…maybe I should have actuall tried on some of the Brooks?
Lately I’ve been actually running (gasp!) so I might need a new pair in less time than usual…right? [Or maybe I’ll jut come up with an excuse to “need” new ones. ;)]
Tanya @ Vegan Faith says
Alex did the run for green last year in Davidson! Great race! Maybe we will come cheer you on! We could watch Hailey for you while you run!
laura says
oh, please do share your meal plan!! that picture of a recipe looks fabulous! always looking for new ideas!
Rodney Graham says
Thanks for the mention of the Run for Green 10K. We hope you run it.
Do you think you could get another 20 or more people to sign up for one of our races if you promoted them on your site? If so I’d be interested in discussing some type of promotion with you.
Thanks.
