It’s Friday!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my role, but when you have a real little one the days pretty much run together. Though I will say I’m considering getting a little wild tonight. This means pumping in the evening and having a glass (or TWO?!) of wine before hitting the hay at 9:30. I told you… WILD.
Moving on…
Let’s keep things light and chat about some things rocking my world lately, shall we?
Hanging out with Kaitlyn. I’m sure I surprised you with that one. She is three weeks old today and really starting to fill out. She’s starting to give little smiles while nursing and is losing the newborn, wrinkled look which I love and want to cry about all at once. Motherhood is a strange mix of emotions.
The blog Camp Patton.
Have you read Grace’s tales of mothering her 4 kiddos? She’s hilarious in the I-feel-like-we-are-friends-but-she-doesn’t-know-who-I-am-and-is-that-creepy kind of way. Go check her out!
Baby Apps for the iPhone.
I’ve been using this baby feeding timer app since day one and love that it tracks and graphs all Kaitlyn’s meals, allows me to log ounces I’ve pumped and reminds me which side to start on at the next feeding, which is surprisingly hard to recall sometimes.
I also use this white noise app daily. If I let Kaitlyn get overtired (oops) a good swaddle and a little white noise will knock her right out. We prefer the vacuum cleaner option at the moment.
Pinning workouts. I’m itching to get back to working out, but don’t think I’m completely healed and ready to go just yet. I’ve started taking short walks (ok, so I took one short walk yesterday) but have a slew of great circuits and workouts sitting on my pinterest ready to be used. I’m considering trying Jen’s arm workout today just to tide me over.
Smoothies and juices. We’ve been on a kick around here. We sadly just finished up all of our mango protein mix, but my vanilla protein should arrive today meaning I foresee some vanilla peanut butter banana smoothies happening soon. I’m pretty excited!
Panera’s decision to drop all food additives by 2016. I’m impressed that Panera is taking this initiative and hope others follow suit.
Looking at pictures from our family/newborn session. I really love so many of them and am trying to decide which ones to print and frame and whether I should turn some into canvases? Would anyone really be opposed to an entire gallery wall of photos from the same session? I didn’t think so…
You’re turn…
What are you loving lately?!
John J. says
Cute blog; you’re on your game. Kaitlyn picture is cute, as well as photogenic Hailey. Great family pic as well.

LOL at the e-card! Sometimes weekends feel MORE difficult to me than the weekdays, oddly enough.
What I am loving : (1) Spring produce! I kid you not, my son just downed half a pint of blueberries with his breakfast. He just keeps asking for more and more. I am taking him to a farmers’ market tomorrow, and I think his head might explode when he sees all of the baw-boos (his word for strawberries and blueberries).
(2) Also I am loving YouTube at the moment! I am using it like a how-to search engine. You can figure out how to do most anything: blog stuff, cooking, recipes, repairs, DIY, etc. The possibilities are endless! And also my own channel is picking up more subscribers lately, which is really fun.
Have a great weekend!
Amy says
I agree with your weekend assessment – maybe because everyone is home and her routine is different!
Marjorie says
Exactly!
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
So true about the Friday thing! Our big nights on Friday now involve ordering Pizza and trying not to fall asleep during a movie, haha.
Brittany Dixon says
I’ve been wanting to do a movie night for the past couple of weeks but every time the evening comes I just know I won’t make it through haha!

That family pic is adorable! And I have to admit, I actually feel the same “I-feel-like-we-are-friends-but-she-doesn’t-know-who-I-am-and-is-that-creepy” way with you. LOL. But it is probably creepier/weirder with me because I’m only 13. 😛 Well… can’t blame me for loving your blog! 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, not weird at all! I love that you read- thanks 🙂
Erica { EricaDHouse.com } says
I love your life 🙂
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat says
What an adorable family! Speaking of Panera, I’m loving their avocado sprouted grain bagel sandwich, with hot sauce added, of course 🙂 I’m also loving the fact that we’re leaving for our babymoon this afternoon!!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
That white noise app was my lifesaver! Yay Panera! Yes, hopefully others will follow suit 🙂

I love the family picture, and I hope I don’t love camp patton (but i probably will), because the last thing I need is another family to think I’m friends with! (without them knowing it). I never thought to do half an over head press, but it makes total sense, and my yoga sculpt students are going to feel the burn on monday morning!
Maria says
The family photos are just adorable! Keep ’em coming!
I’m hanging onto my Mango protein powder and trying to make it last! Excited to try the strawberry next though.
Brittany Dixon says
Ohh let me know what you think of strawberry! I haven’t gotten to try it yet.
Ashley says
I love that newborn lounger in the pic 🙂 I also use an app for feedings/changing/pumping/sleeping! It is sad but I could never remember on my own (and it helps me tell the doc how many times she eats each day and for how long! I use ‘baby log’!
Jodi says
Josh’s farmers market and my strange ability to go there several times a week… Monastery.com and her book carry on, warrior…. The fact that dinner is prepped and cooking while I am at the gym… Emmys southern accent when she says ‘bye’ with a wave and a purse on the crook of her arm. Happy Friday, happy wine day for you!!
Jodi says
Oh sorry, momastery.com; what I am NOT likeing… Autocorrect.
Grace Patton says
Hey! Thank you!! Excited to stalk your blog! And I get sad too when the newborn look disappears. We crazy. 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Ahh! And now I have outed myself to you 😉 In all honesty though- love your writing style! Thanks for providing my entertainment during nursing sessions!
Kathy says
Love all the pictures–post more. 🙂
What am I loving these days??? Our daughters softball season spooling up! Endless weekends filled with fun and family!
char eats greens says
Smoothies for sure…and Kaitlyn pictures :). Nia’s napping right now, but once she’s up, I’m busting out the vitamix and making a big ol’ green + fruits smoothies!! And then for sanity’s sake, I’m loving leaving the house to do ANYTHING but be here! I might go shopping and then hit up the trail with Nia for a little run!! I need to start pinning more workouts then that way, I would probably actually do some!
Becky@TheSavedRunner says
I had not heard that Panera was getting rid of all of their food additives. That makes me so happy! It sounds like you really have some cool apps to help you with baby girl. There is an app for everything these days, isn’t there?
Harsha @ Healthy Cooking 'N' Fitness says
Ohh love the pics of Kaitlyn. What I am loving lately –> Warm weather, long walks with friends and family, pool time with my daughter.
Melissa @ Fit 'n' Well Mommy says
Congrats on your new little girl! Isn’t life with 2 kids crazy, hectic, overwhelming and fun all at the same time?!
I had to chuckle on your “wild night,” because that sounds exactly like my night…enjoying a glass or two of wine or beer before I go to bed at 9:30, to be rested for when Mirella wakes up!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh yes, life with two is quite the adventure, but I really am enjoying it! (most days ;))
Nikki@willrunforpizza says
Ahhh white noise…my Hus insists he can’t sleep without that! haha That is an awesome family pic!!
Sarah says
I took my 2 1/2 year old son to Panera once or twice and he LOVED it. I was surprised because there’s not a kid play place. I love to take him on dates and with the new baby coming, I think dates are especially important. ..so Panera’s decision makes me especially happy, too:-).
Tia @ Tina and Tia says
I wonder if Panera will still serve sodas…
Jen says
One thing I’m loving is this post! It cracked me up multiple times, especially the e-card at the top. My baby girl will be one month old tomorrow and I’m sad to say I STILL haven’t had a glass of wine, but the husband is bringing home takeout tonight, which makes me feel like it is, indeed, a Friday night.
Other things I’m loving: Um, my baby. And my husband. And the weather here in the mountains of Western NC. And taking walks with my daughter in her Moby Wrap. And chocolate. Oh, and the three hour nap I got to take while baby girl hung out with Grandma today!
Have an awesome weekend 🙂
Matt @ Runner Savvy says
Yay Panera!
And Friday 🙂
Lindsey says
I am loving that summer is basically here, which means spending lots of time outside after our very long winter!
Jenni @ Fitzala says
LOVE the family-newborn photo you posted, share some more!
Laura @ FitMamaLove says
I just found that blog recently and love it! White noise is our savior! I’ve played it for both my kids since they were newborns and still play it for my 4-year-old just to block out any noise–especially his sister crying!
Shari says
That last picture is adorable!

I love your blog… And love the pics!! Panera is my fav “fast food” love their committment to better food!
Before there were blogs & utube videos… I used a safety pin on bra strap. No thinking involved I knew the side w the pin was the side to start for next feed.
My daughter uses a fan w HEPA filter for white noise. Started right away & also helps block out noises like their dog barking!!
