Wow, I was quite the whiner yesterday, huh? I have a low tolerance for whining myself, so knowing that post was up all day made me feel icky. Still, I appreciate all your messages to just RELAX. So, I took a giant chill pill and feel a million times better today. Is everything done? Nope. But Hailey and I are leaving for my parent’s house this morning anyway. C’est la vie. Family time > perfection, right?
During my down time I had some fun surfing the interwebs and thought a light post with some of my fun finds today was just what the doctor ordered (all original links are accessible by clicking the image).
Get your pin-finger ready!
Favorite Holiday Appetizer: This Holiday Pinecone Cheese Ball is one of the cutest appetizers I’ve seen! I love how it looks natural and incorporates rosemary (such a delicious winter aroma). These would be adorable on the side of a cheese platter.
Favorite Drool-Worthy Dream Kitchen: Where to begin? The ceiling? The large island? The tucked-in stools? The POT FILLER?! (My fav!) I love everything about this kitchen. However, as an owner of darker wood floors, I must admit I’m not wild about ever having them again. They’re gorgeous, but ridiculously hard to keep clean with kids and a dog.
Favorite Organizational Idea: Apparently this can be found at Ikea for $1.50? I love the idea of having two holders- one for holiday paper and one for birthdays/other. I’m trying my best to get better at wrapping gifts and I really think all that was missing was having a wrapping paper holder to make me feel organized!
Favorite Healthy Makeover: DIY Ramen Noodles! I downed these in college like it was no one’s business. Oriental flavor was the bomb. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a pack, but love this idea of lower-sodium, healthified Ramen, ready to go in the pantry!
Favorite Kid Responsibility Idea: I am all about kids having chores. I think the majority of chores should just be understood that it’s what we do by being a family member and not rewarded. However, I love the idea of teaching kids the power of earning money by working for it, so this cute way to display opportunities and payment really speaks to me. It also provides a place for kids’ to turn to when they want something, instead of asking for money.
Favorite Reminder: THIS POST. Yesterday Paulina linked me to it and it really resonated with me. Hailey couldn’t care less about having a perfectly decorated house. She just wants me to go on an Elf hunt with her and stare a sparkly ‘kissmas ights.’ If everything doesn’t get done, it will be ok. I want Hailey’s Christmas memories to be full of the coziness of together time and joy of the season, not having a perfectly tied bow on her gifts.
Favorite Eco-Friendly Holiday Time Saver: Lilywap! I’ve used this personally and love how easy to use it is and how great it looks (for a non-talented wrapper like me especially). You can keep it and reuse it, or it makes for a great extra-gift for the gift receiver to keep and use. Plus, it’s ideal for odd-shaped packages.
Favorite Sweet: I’m not one for cookies or cupcakes jammed with 12 different kinds of candy bars. Call me a buzz kill, but it just doesn’t do it for me. A perfect, chewy, classic chocolate chip cookie, though? Now that’s what I’m talking about!
Favorite Coffee-Lover Gift: We all have someone that needs this cup, right? Dad, this made me think of you
Favorite Place to Dine: Must I even explain? This grotto restaurant on the eastern coast of Italy speaks to me. It says, please come drink wine with me… ok, hotel Grotta Palasezze, ok. I will.
Favorite Hair: I keep wanting to grow my hair out so it will look like this. Sure, my hair is courser, thicker and darker than this, but a girl can dream, right?
Favorite Bowl of Comfort: I love asking what a person’s favorite comfort food is because the answer will range wildly. To me, comfort means pasta and marinara. The seafood is just a delicious added bonus. This would definitely be part of my 7 course last meal on earth.
What is our favorite go-to comfort food?
