This fresh and delicious layered Mexican dip is a hearty crowd pleaser that works well in all seasons. It will no doubt become a fast favorite for gatherings, like it is in my family!
Do you have those recipes that you just expect to see at family gatherings? For us, it’s my Grandma Betty’s onion dip, a big wheel of swiss cheese, Mom’s veggie dip, and this- Kris’ layered Mexican dip.
My bro, Kris, gets the title of this one, not because he makes it, but because it’s common knowledge that this is his favorite snack Mom makes. Though, the rest of us try to get in there and give him a run for his money at the title, because it’s pretty much a crowd please all around. During our recent lake staycation we even had a whole dinner that was nothing but dips, and this dip was the star of the show!
So if you’re looking for a tasty and hearty dip that translates well from poolside to winter nights of playing board games, pin this!
PrintKris’ Layered Mexican Dip
Description
This fresh and delicious layered Mexican dip is a hearty crowd pleaser that works well in all seasons. It will no doubt become a fast favorite for gatherings, like it is in my family!
Ingredients
2 (16 ounce) cans of refried beans
4 Tbsp taco seasoning
16 ounces guacamole
8 ounces sour cream
4.5 ounces sliced black olives
6 ounces chopped green chilies (canned)
1 small onion, chopped
3 small tomatoes, chopped
8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
Instructions
In a 9×13 glass baking dish, mix the refried beans and taco seasoning. Spread into an even layer across the bottom of the dish.
Then proceed to layer the following: guacamole, sour cream, olives, chilies, onion, and tomato. Sprinkle on the Monterey Jack cheese as the final topping.
Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge until ready to serve for up to 48 hours.
Notes
*For the best result and flavor, shred your own cheese instead of buying preshredded.

Hello from Germany, that sounds so delicious. I’ll try it today. You don’t have to bake it in the oven to melt the cheese, right?
Best wishes.

Hi Julie! You are correct, no baking. The dip is served cold 🙂 Enjoy!

Looks good! Love the twist on adding the seasoning to the beans. I normally see it where the taco seasoning is in the sour cream! I’ll try it this way next time. I’d love to see that onion dip recipe!!!
