Another wild and crazy weekend to share with you!
…have they created that sarcasm font yet?
So wild and crazy might not describe it but nice and relaxing (and dare I say even a little productive?!) fit the bill.
It all started out on Fun Drink Friday. It’s a thing.
The Redemption Ginger Beer (brewed locally in Concord, NC) is the best ginger beer I’ve ever had. It’s worth searching for to drink on it’s own (it’s non-alcoholic, pregnant friends!) and makes a perfect mix for a Kentucky Mule.
We had a couple friends over for an early happy hour on Friday which consisted of 7 Layer Dip and mules.
Doesn’t everyone love when toddlers are able to access the appetizers?
I’m sure she abided by the ‘no double dipping’ rule.
David and I ended up sitting outside late into the evening because it was just so darn nice out. I’m so excited for the warmer weather and longer days.
Saturday we contemplated the farmers market, but instead decided to be responsible adults and tackle our long overdue list of yard chores.
It’s crazy how much you don’t realize you are behind on these things until you do it. Weeding, seeding, cutting, watering, sweating and playing filled up the entire morning and into the early afternoon.
Somehow I survived the pollen, in large thanks to alfalfa, but it still felt good to come in early afternoon and get totally cleaned up with the girls.
While David stayed out, the girls and I took on all the inside chores like laundry, combing through our closets to donate and switch seasons and cleaning the kitchen/living room/etc. We were all exhausted by the evening and were happy to dive into these enchilada rice bowls that had been cooking in the slow cooker all afternoon.
The girls crashed hard and David and I cozied up on the couch to watch Bridge of Spies, which turned out to be a great movie! Tom Hanks is just good. The man can act.
Later that night, while we were all sleeping, the Easter Bunny paid us a visit!
The girls were stoked when they woke up with a note from EB saying he had hid eggs all over the house, but were not so excited for forced pictures. I put the camera away and just tried to commit all the happy faces and excited “Holy Smokes, he hid an egg in the bathroom!” phrases to memory instead of memory card.
Finding eggs was all the rage until Kaitlyn realized they opened.
Then it quickly switched from an egg hunt to an egg opening kind of shindig.
We cleaned up the best we could and headed to church.

Shoes are sold out, but these and these are similar
We heard a great message on perspective and how it determines your experience. It served as a great reminder to begin each day with gratitude, praise and a positive point of view, as it will be the lens you accept the day’s events through.
So I’m starting this morning grateful for our relaxing weekend and excited about spending the day with the girls. It’s their spring break this week and I’ve been trying to think of fun activities to fill our days. All we’ve come up with so far is making ice cream and Hailey thinks we should go to Target and play with the toys.
…clearly we dream big.
Any fun suggestions?
How was your weekend?!

Great family pics of Easter weekend. Frame that one of the four of you all gussied up for church. Good one here as well in spite of limited sun. Yes, one’s perception is one’s reality. Know anything about phenomenology?

Looks like a great Easter weekend! I wish their had more sun and less rain yesterday, but that’s okay. It knocked the pollen down. Wahoo!

You guys are such an adorable family! Sounds like it was a great weekend, and very similar to ours. Hope you guys enjoyed the enchilada rice bowls! 🙂

I love it when kids realize the eggs open. Ha ha. We had to keep encouraging our 2 year old to keep getting more eggs because she just wanted to sit down and open them all up and snack.

The chicken enchilada bowls look great. I wonder if you really even need to cut up the chicken before throwing it in??

Looks like a lovely and relaxing Easter! I enjoy it when our rabbi gives sermons on life and perspective and engagement as well, it makes faith a lot more accessible and applicable to daily life and both makes me more reflective each day, and engages me more in my faith.
Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! says
Happy Easter! It looks like you all had a great day!

My co-worker was just telling me about that same sermon and telling me I need to go listen to the podcast. Easter mornings were so special for me as a child, I know your girls had a blast!

Happy Easter. It is our first bank holiday weekend since Christmas and in true British weather fashion, it rained pretty much all weekend, with a storm thrown in named Katie. Love the bunny paw prints on the floor! Hope you and the girls have a fun filled week.
