I really owe you guys a post on my body (I can’t really call it a post baby body at 13 months can I?). Not because you care so much, but because I’m amazed at the changes I’ve experienced since I’ve started bootcamp. I only make it 3 times a week usually, but those 45 minute sessions have made the biggest difference in my physique.
Avocado, tomato, fried egg, feta and sriracha
What I love is that the workout is different every single time so I don’t even have the opportunity to get bored. The BBC facebook page lists a protocol each Sunday so you know what to expect the following week (kind of like Monday-lower body, Tuesday- cardio and core, etc). Usually the trainer leads you through a warm up (don’t let the name fool you, it’s tough too!) then shows you the exercises for the day and proceeds to push you through.
Yesterday things were a little switched up and we had a whiteboard workout that we did for time.
I’d say 4 laps is about equal to .3 miles (if I had to guess). We started with a warm up of 4 laps, then about 10 minutes alternating step ups on the curb, mountain climbers and push-ups ALL BEFORE we started the actual workout.
Something about the set up of going for time pushes me. Daniel (our awesome trainer) told us the record for completion for the day was 17 minutes 21 seconds, but if you finish around 21 minutes, you’re doing a great pace. We all were supposed to finish by 25 minutes. So after a brief explanation of the movements, we hit it!
Oh man, did I push it. And Daniel pushed me (get those pushups on your toes!) and I somehow ended up finishing in 21:17.
I won’t lie, I wanted to throw up for a minute, but caught my breath before we all finished it with planks, more laps (you had to keep going until everyone finished), then finally ended it with sprints.
Did I already say it? Kicked. My. Booty.
And it felt great! I highly recommend you giving it a try. If you want to do it at home, here is a slightly modified version to pin:
Ok, anddddd lunch!
Turkey and Havarti sandwich with spicy mustard, lettuce and tomato with extra tomato, carrots and a pickle
I thought for sure during Hailey’s afternoon swim lesson that I’d be unable to move today, but I’m doing surprisingly OK!
I was stoked as I thought about the spaghetti I had planned for dinner, but I had forgotten to thaw the ground beef (did I mention we bought half a cow?) so a last minute switch up led to brinner, which I can’t say I was mad about. Hashbrownssssssss.
Hashbrowns, pepper, onion, mushroom and egg omelet and, shocker, more tomatoes!

What kind of workouts are you loving currently?
Obviously I’m hooked on bootcamp, but would also love to get some yoga back in my life.
Are you a brinner fan?
Usually I’m not, but if you add hashbrowns, I can get on board!

Alex and I went to a bootcamp class like that a couple of years ago and it was SO intense but it really was an amazing workout! It’s crazy what you can do when you push yourself, isn’t it?!
Brittany Dixon says
Yes! I now realize I’m someone that needs to be pushed. I do so much better with a motivator!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
I used to do bootcamp style workouts in college and loved them! Right now my workouts are either outdoor/indoor runs (sometimes walks!) and strength training in our apartment gym. Not super exciting but it works for now.
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
I cannot wait to try that boot camp class with you in a few months!!! That workout looks AWESOME!
Brittany Dixon says
Ah yes, yay! I can’t wait!! It won’t be long now! <3
Brynn says
confession, I’ve never done a boot camp workout. I stick with HIIT, spin, yoga and barre. But one of these days I’ll face my fear of boot camp!
Kathy says
Good job on your bootcamp workout! I have done that style before and it does really push you! I am currently doing a tabata bootcamp M/W/F and run the other 3 days with Sunday as a rest day. 🙂 It’s all good! 🙂
Lauren @ Oh Hey, I Like That! says
Nothing beats brinner! It just makes everything happier!
Heather says
I could probably have brinner several nights a week. Ha ha. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals.
As far as workouts go, I’m definitely lacking, but I think my husband and I are going to start doing something similar to your bootcamp workouts at home. We don’t live near enough to a gym, but something that doesn’t take a ton of time we could do together in the evening.

Sounds like a super fun workout – I have a question though, has there been an explanation on how it is different from CrossFit? Im just curious and trying to find something where I live 🙂 (That isnt as much money or scary as CF)
Brittany Dixon says
I may not be the best to answer that question, as I have never actually tried crossfit! From my limited understanding of it though, yesterday’s white board workout sounds similar to a WOD in crossfit, but usually the bootcamps follow more of a circuit style.

That boot camp class looks awesome!! I love the community surrounding group classes. I’ve been enjoying strength training workouts lately. Bought a share of a cow!! So interesting- I’ve heard of this before. It is for milk too or just meat? They offer something similar in Virginia so that you can purchase raw milk- it’s illegal otherwise. Do you find your share to be beneficial?
Brittany Dixon says
We just bought a half cow share for meat only (and got 340 POUNDS OF MEAT—AHH!) and we just picked it up a few days ago but so far I have been really pleased with the process and quality.
Niki @ Life With Niki says
Awesome eats, and great for you for finding a workout you love! I adore circuit style training as well since you are able to get in such a great workout in a short period of time. My favorite moves would have to be burpees, broad jumps, and mountain climbers :).
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Those sandwiches look delicious! Yum!
Julie says
Coincidentally, I have brinner on the menu for tonight! We don’t do it that often, but everyone seems to love it when we do.
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl says
I am a huge brinner fan, I eat breakfast every meal of the day sometimes! Eggs for dinner, or pancakes – what could be better? I follow the Leslie Knope theory of breakfast foods.
Danielle @ The Soul Simple Life says
I am trying to get into more strength training, but without taking a class the motivation is lacking to really push myself. Sound like I may need to invest in a bootcamp style class!
Breakfast has never been my favorite meal, but I feel like it always tastes better when cooked “brinner” style!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
Making it to bootcamp 3 times a week is a great accomplishment! To achieve that every week is commendable Brittany. Also, brinner? Absolutely yes.
