Another WIAW… Thanks, Jenn and I hope you feel better soon!
Ezekiel toast with pepper jack, over medium egg, half a banana and half-caf with cream
The folks at Food for Life sent me some Ezekiel sprouted grain flax bread to try out. All the grains come together to form a complete protein, which is pretty neat for a bread (80 calories and 4g of protein per slice)! With a name like sprouted grain flax bread I had to twist David’s arm to try it, though he decided it wasn’t bad and would eat it again. He preferred it with butter as he said it tasted a little dry, but I enjoyed the hearty texture and both my mom and I said we’d buy it with our own money.
It’s still eat in month, but after explaining my trouble with challenges I took your advice and grabbed lunch with my best friend, Alexis!
In fact, it was a family affair. She and her dad are driving from Atlanta to Boston to move her into the city. I’ve never been to Boston and can’t wait to visit! I’m so glad I got to be a pit stop on their road trip.
Blackened mahi on a wheat bun with roasted broccoli from Blu Star Grill
Hailey has been battling a stuffy nose, meaning naps have been pretty sad the past day or two, which left us with a long afternoon.
The best way to fill it? A stop for a half caf latte at the Human Bean and a couple of hours at Discovery Place Kids!
Free chocolate covered espresso bean with every drink!
Now that Hailey is a full blown toddler, we can explore the entire building. Her favorite area was the grocery store. Like mom, like daughter!
Crackers and Sabra
I had twice as many crackers while I threw together dinner.
Chicken Tortilla Soup… again??
I could (and pretty much do) eat this soup every week. It’s a crowd pleaser.
I slurped it down before heading off to our neighborhood social committee meeting. Things like that make me feel like such a grown up! I’m heading up the kids Halloween party- any fun ideas?!
Off to play with mom and Hailey before she takes off! Have a good one

A great days of eats Brittany! I love the fact you get a free choc covered coffee bean with each drink, they are wayy too good! Food shops are my favourites too, I could spend hours walking around in fascination at everything. Happy WIAW!

I love how Hailey just looks like another one of the adults at the table! Precious.

I know! Isn’t it funny how she is just staring at the camera? It cracked me up!

I’ve been meaning to try Ezekiel Bread…I think they sell it at Trader Joe’s even? I’m glad you gave your review on it–it sounded too good to be true before!
Brittany says
David wanted me to add in that it “tasted healthy” so I guess that means it was more hearty than usual wheat bread. I like all the additional health benefits so much that I liked it a lot and didn’t mind the chewier texture. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Carissa @ Little Pleasures says
I was wanting to make chicken tortilla soup this week. I’m going to have to try your recipe!
Brittany says
I’m not one to brag, but this recipe is seriously my favorite! You can sub a can of diced tomatoes since fresh tomatoes are flavorless right now. Let me know what you think!
Carissa says
I tried it and YUM! I admit, I didn’t have all the ingredients on hand so I want to make it again sometime and follow the recipe more exact. But, it was still delicious!
Paige @ Your Trainer Paige says
I’ve never had that type of Ezekiel bread. How do you like the flax?
Brittany says
I’ve tried other Ezekiel bread and it seemed similar to how I remember it being, but had whole flax seeds on it, which got stuck in my teeth 😉 In honestly, I love how hearty and healthy the bread is, so I’d recommend it!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I am kind of jealous that you are in charge of the Halloween party. That holiday just SCREAMS –pun intended– for a celebratory shindig. I probably have ideas…but at the moment, I can’t think of any. Although I did hear about using an actual hollowed out pumpkin for a pinata, but that could get REALLY messy. [But what kid wouldn’t love pumpkin guts flying everywhere?]
My friend’s niece is having her birthday party at Discovery Place this weekend! I haven’t been there since visiting my cousins as a small child, but I vaguely recall the grocery store. 🙂
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
Is Discovery Place a Children’s museum? I’ve never heard of it. We have a children’s museum close by but have yet to visit it. Need to soon since my little guy is 20 months and so explorative right now. Such a fun age!
Brittany says
It is! It’s in Huntersville, NC and is an amazing inside museum/playground. We love it! And yes, this toddler stage is such a busy and fun time! 🙂
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness says

So I don’t know if Alexis remembers me but we went to high school together my freshman year! She even came to my 15th birthday party. 🙂 Small world!!
Brittany says
Oh my gosh, that’s hilarious- what a small world!! Alexis and I met freshmen year at UGA and roomed together in the sorority house sophomore year. Too funny. I’ll have to mention this to her!
