Goooooooood morning! I’m feeling quite perky this morning (please don’t slap me) and I think it’s largely due to the nice, relaxing weekend we had at home. Sure, we had a ton of stuff we should have done…
but I choose to follow Milli Vanilli’s advice and blame it on the rain. (Go ahead and click on the hyperlink, you know you want to jam out to that song).
Anyways, the weekend wasn’t all pure relaxation, I did learn a thing or two. Such as…
I learned that… Ikea is an awesome resource when putting together a playroom. I dominated those 2 little yellow chairs with my Alan wrench. And the easel? $14. I saw an identical one at Michael’s for $50. WAHOO, Ikea.
I learned that… Bad Daddy’s does indeed have the best black bean burgers anywhere! I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that they are deep fried. That reminds me, don’t forget that MUNCHKIN MEALS is this Thursday! Focus is on quick, convenient eats for the little ones.
I learned that… grocery shopping solo means there is an entire section of the cart for you to put your purse (ok, diaper bag) and shopping list. Unfortunately it also means you miss out on the usual smiles and waves from complete strangers.
I learned that… Hailey fooled me. After 4 days of trying 1 nap, she convinced me that she isn’t quite ready. I followed her lead and we went back to 2 naps this weekend and our happy little girl returned, despite the FIVE teeth she is cutting now. I think we are in an in-between stage where she’ll need 1 nap some days and 2 other days. PS- she’s still sleeping and it’s 8:10. Time for me to learn how to be flexible.
I learned that… trying new recipes still excites me. I love when I get extra time in the kitchen and we can enjoy something new for dinner.
We ate these wild rice cakes with smoked gouda as a side with roasted chicken, but they are so hearty they could easily have served as a vegetarian entree. I plan on eating leftovers for lunch on greens this week.
I learned that… fall is just around the corner. We spent an evening outside at a picnic with a live band and it felt amazing out. Who’s ready for pumpkin to take over the blog world?!
Did you learn anything this weekend?

Gotta love that Ikea!!
I learned how to make my own subway art this weekend. I am going to make some for my little monster’s first birthday in October, so excited!! 🙂 Happy Monday.

I love how you’re figuring out what works for your daughter and what not. Like this napping thing, so cool.
Glad that the cooler weather excites you. We also have warmer weather, so just like you, we’re inbetween cool and warm which is awesome.
I love that dress you’ve worn to the picnic. Gorgeous.

Great – now I’m going to have Milli Vanilli stuck in my head all day!
I was just thinking of all the pumpkin recipes I’ll start making soon the other day. In Florida we don’t really have a Fall, but I’ll start breaking out the canned pumpkin in the next few weeks anyways!

Bad Daddy’s black bean burgers really are the best. I was only there a week ago, but now of course I want another. Glad you had a nice weekend 🙂

I learned it’s still fun to take a 10 month old to the zoo for his first time… even if he’s way more interested in lunch and his sippy cup than the elephants. Good times.
Brittany says
Oh my gosh, I can’t wait to take Hailey to a zoo!!

Ikea is so much fun…but an intense experience. We got the same easel for M, its such as awesome deal!
And I am so ready for Fall–bring on the pumpkins!

The playroom is shaping up so well! Can I be Hailey’s nanny? 🙂
I learned this weekend that when you hike close to the beach, the trails are all sand. And your calves feel every bit of it.

I learned this weekend that Fall and Spring are my true loves. We were camping this weekend and it was like fall temps and I loved every single second! I’m so ready for pumpkin, hoodies, jeans and sweaters to rule my life again 🙂
Brittany says
Oh, I’m so jealous! I’ve been itching to go camping. I’m so with you- bring on hoodies and jeans, football and pumpkins! 🙂

I got to grocery shop solo this weekend too- I love it! I am a weirdo in that I like to get certain things done as fast as possible- it was amazing to zip up and down the aisles so smoothly and not having to stop to pass more snacks, or water, etc. You’re definitely right though… add a baby to your cart and you get a TON more random smiles!

My family thinks I’m crazy for it but I love grocery shopping every week. I have fun with the whole planning part of it and I like looking around at new things (especially at Trader Joe’s).
This weekend I was reminded of how great it is to have good friends–it’s important not to take them for granted!

I learned that I still really love Maroon Five. I can’t stop listening to their songs.. it doesn’t help that Adam is gorgeous too 🙂

Bad Daddy’s black bean burgers are AH-MAZING! Now, not only do I have pregnancy insomnia, but a crazy craving to go along with it 😉
Oh, and I”m SO ready for pumpkin everything to take over the blog world. Bring on Fall! <3

My son’s (19 months) sleeping/napping is/was always a little more unorganized when he was getting teeth. He started taking 1 nap around 17 months…it wasnt nearly the agonizing change that I was expecting…he just stopped getting tired around 9:30 am (his usual morning nap time).

I learned to go with the flow a little more than I usually do! 🙂 We had a family friend’s wedding on Saturday and it was the first one that we were able to bring Keenan to. He was so excited to “dancey dance,” that he pretty much danced the night away until 10:30 p.m. (3 hours past his bed time, the latest he has ever stayed up!). I was ready to leave the wedding early to get Keenan home for his bedtime, but my husband helped me to relax, enjoy the evening and go with the flow. Keenan had a great time and everything was fine (he actually slept-in until 9:30 a.m. the next morning!).
I love IKEA, too (even more for their kids stuff)! We also got a little table for Keenan this weekend and it was only $20 (including the chairs)!
