1. 5:15 am wake ups are wearing on me, but I’m not quite sure of a solution. Today Kaitlyn woke up at 4:00 am (rare), but when I got back to bed I turned off my alarm and snoozed until 7:30. It was glorious.
2. This picture makes me smile. It’s like all my favorite things in one picture- my girls and the grocery store. HA. But really…
3. Home renovation projects are not my cup of tea. I lack patience. Our bathroom looks reallllllly pretty, but there are all these loose ends lingering that need to be tied up. Today our tile guy is coming back out to pull up part of our shower floor and re-lay the tiles to help with a draining issue. Hopefully I’ll be able to show it off at some point.
4. If there is one field of health research I’m super interested in, it’s the importance of gut health. Scientists are linking it to so many things including diabetes, cancer, autism and even emotional health.
5. I take a probiotic every day, as part of my vitalizer, but I also am a big fan of fermented foods like kombucha, yogurt and saurkraut. My goodness I am on a saurkraut kick (and Christine, the smoked jalapeno is very good, but I still prefer the dill pickle variety!)
6. Some days my main motivation to workout is the free childcare. Yesterday was such a day.
You see a torture chamber, I see glorious freedom!
7. Though I end some days so excited to put my crazy kiddos to bed, as soon as they are down I can’t help but to just want to watch them and, get this, I miss them. Being a mom is weird.
8. I tried to recreate Whole Food’s Mediterranean Salmon Parchments last week and it was a failure. I decided more research was in order.
9. We own TV tables. And use them more often than I should admit to.
Hope your Tuesday is going swimmingly!
Any randomness to share? 🙂

I love your honesty with #7! That is/was so me too. 🙂 Have a fabulous day and I hope all your construction loose ends get tied up soon so you can enjoy your new bathroom.

Having childcare at the gym was a lifesaver for me! Break + exercise = awesome

YES about being so ready to put the kid(s) to bed and then missing them! Some nights I am just over it and ready to put the baby to bed, but then after she’s asleep my husband and I sit on the couch looking at pictures and video of her, talking about how sweet she is and how much we miss her. Being a parent is definitely strange.

We own tv tables too! I hate them but they’re so convenient! haha

I can totally relate to looking forward to putting your kids to bed but then immediately missing them. My 18-mo boy is full of energy and there are days I can’t wait to relax when he goes down, but then immediately turn to my husband and talk about how much I miss him and how cute he was.
Haha, being a mom IS weird!

Inspired by YOU…I started home brewing Kombucha. I can’t even tell you what batch I’m on, I brew two one-gallons at a time. I have my husband drinking it daily too! I have a green tea and honey and a chai flavor right now ready to go into the fridge. I also have my first attempt at sauerkraut currently fermenting (hopefully they’re fermenting!) in the basement and homemade yogurt in the fridge (which may or may not be safe…they didn’t thicken during the time they were supposed to, so figuring I had nothing to lose I put them back in the oven on keep warm and they thickened!! But not sure if they’re safe given the initial “failure.”).

100% with you on missing the kids when they sleep! Even when it’s been a long, drawn-out battle to get him to bed (ahh… two almost three year old asserting his independence is “exciting”….), about 30 minutes later I’m looking at pictures and videos of him, maybe sneaking in his room to look at him, etc.
Ah, motherhood…. 🙂

Thank you for the review on the sauerkraut! I will just have to buy both and try them out! I would love a solution to the 5am wake ups too! Even if I put my 7 month old to bed a little later he wakes up at 5am, little stinker!

Gut health is so important. I usually get sideways looks when I bring it up, but it is amazing how much your overall health is impacted through your gut! My randomness is to echo what you said, motherhood is so hard to explain and is weird. Ha!

Also, where in Wholefoods it the kraut located? I may try and make a quick trip after work! Thank you!

I love the picture of K on the monitor. We ended up taking our bumpers off because my son was putting his arms and legs above the bumper and squishing it down. And I definitely relate to missing them when they go to bed!! Once mine is asleep I’m like, soo what now?

YES! To so many things. 5AM wake ups? We’re going on 3 weeks of them. Followed by 6AM wake ups from big sister. Mama desperately needs some sleep. That picture in #2? I love it!! Renovations? Exhausting. Agreed. Gym day care – I’ve been too nervous to use it. Bed time? I count down the minutes – and then miss them like crazy. Motherhood is totally weird.

Hahaha this post made me smile. Especially the part about gyms sometimes looking like torture chambers. I always envision the TRX straps along the same lines as a 50 shades of gray contraption…

Totally get missing your kids when they’re asleep. You can have the worst day with them and as soon as they’re asleep, your heart melts and you can look at them forever.
Heather@hungryforbalance says
Yes to almost all of these! Childcare is my saving grace! I call it my “mommy time” 😉

I hear you on 5 am wake ups, I did them for a long time with my daughter, my only solution was to go to bed at the same time to get enough sleep. But then you miss out on downtime without the kids and time with your partner. Perhaps every second night you could go to bed when Kaitlyn does. Just remember, this too shall pass. They are all stages as you know and sleep times thankfully change too. Perhaps Kaitlyn needs less nap time during the day or a later bed time, all you can do is play around with it and see if she will sleep in.
My 31/2 year old has only just started going to bed without me having to lie next to her to get her to sleep and only within the last 6 months has she stopped waking twice/three times in the night and needing me to put her back to sleep. I spent a lot of time falling asleep in my daughters bed trying to get her back to sleep, which makes the problem worse as they want to sleep with you. When she was a baby we didn’t do sleep training because she was a vomiter along with the hysterical crying. She has always been difficult to put to bed taking forever to go to sleep until I forced her to give up her daytime nap at about 2 1/2 years and then she went to sleep easily in the evening. She now goes to bed at 7.30, asleep by 8pm and wakes up around 6 or 6.30 am and no day time nap. At least your girls are sleep trained!
Good luck! X
