Spring! I feel it. Even though we spent 1.5 chilly hours at the park yesterday in coats and hats, I know it’s creeping closer.
Maybe it’s because it’s staying lighter later, which I’m loving! However, I’m not loving how the time change has messed with my super sleeper. Next time I’ll do the smart mom trick of scooting bedtime by 15 minutes for the week before.
But in the end, the more light means warmer weather is around the corner and also means I can start taking evening meal pictures again. I’ve got the itch to cook and try out some new recipes. Hopefully I’ll have some good ones to share soon, like this shrimp dish!
Spring means getting off the dreadmill and getting back outside. I haven’t run much lately, but knocked out 2.7 miles yesterday and decided I could do a 10k in a month, soooooo I’m signing up for Racefest. Anyone else?
Warm weather also hopefully brings more time for relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sit and read in the sunshine on vacation.
To those that recommended this book, thank you. It was fantastic. Though it was incredibly hard to head what this man went through at times, I was enthralled with his story and perseverance. I might have found my new niche- history! I really loved learning more about World War II and the US conflict with the Japanese.
Finally, spring means farmers markets open (locals, Josh’s open March 27!) Oh sweet, fresh produce, I’ve missed you!
It also means that I’ll attempt once again to turn my black thumb green. I’m simplifying after my overly ambitious gardening goals of last year. This year I want to focus on herbs, peppers and maybe tomatoes, but I find them so tricky!
Are you gardening this year?
What will you plant?
When will you plant it?
Anyone else getting giddy for spring?

That picture of Hailey is adorable!
I am beyond ready for spring … after such a cold (and virtually snow-less, which is the only thing that makes cold weather okay in my book!) winter, I can’t wait for the warmth, flowers, and sunlight! 😀
Liz @ iheartvegetables says
I can’t wait for spring! It’s supposed to be like, 60 here in VA today so I’m planning an outdoor run!
Jen says
Yay, I’m doing the 10k at Racefest, too. I think Cindi may be also?
Ali says
Yea for March 27th and Josh’s reopening! I will be there. Weekly!

It’s great that you are excited for Spring and warmer weather. I too prefer warmer weather 🙂
Farmer Markets are open all year round here but that’s due to the fact that South Africa don’t get snow.
I think you will rock the 10k in a month.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I am LOVING that it is staying light out so much later. It is so nice to be able to get in a walk or workout after work and have it be light out the entire time!
I am SO excited and ready for Farmer’s Markets. I literally cannot wait!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
DLST messed up my sleep schedule too! I can totally relate to Hailey on this one. 🙂
And even though we live in Miami (where it’s Spring/Summer like year round), I am looking forward to it being warmer when we travel to other places like Atlanta, Chicago, and DC later this year.
Julia says
Yes, I’m doing Racefest, too!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
I am soooooo ready for spring! Thank goodness they’re calling for warm weather here in CLT tomorrow.
And I loved that book, BTW. It was almost too heavy for me, but it was good!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I love fall…and I love spring. I guess I just find joy in every season. [OK, not winter. BOO cold. BOO snow. BOO having to wear 8,000 layers just to get to your car.]
I am going to try to successfully grow more than just herbs this year, but one never knows if that will work. I had some minor tomato success at one point. And I do mean minor. Mint, however, I don’t think ANYONE can kill. 🙂

Hailey’s such a cutie! I never thought about how the time change affects the little ones. Oh boy, I have a hard enough time adjusting myself, I can’t imagine when I have babies! I’m incredibly giddy for ping. My body needs sunshine! Happy Friday!
Maria says
Oh Hailey’s hat. I die.
Oh man am I ready for spring. And I say that as someone who lives in CA and doesn’t really ever experience frigid temps. It’s cold when I know I can’t wear sandals. It’s really cold when I have to actually wear socks. Anyway, the time change couldn’t have come at a better time for me – I want to get off work and know that I still have daylight to go for a walk outside and soak up some Vitamin D. I will admit to being one of those people who get a bit melancholy in the winter when it’s so dark all the time, so, welcome Spring!
Kimberly @ Healthy Strides says
I am so antsy for spring that it’s not funny. We’re still too cold to head to the park, which is what I was hoping for this weekend.
And YES to “Unbroken.” I listened to it on audiobook two years ago when I was wogging with Miles in utero and loved it. Such an amazing story. I read in Runners World that there might be a movie directed by Angelina Jolie.
Presley @ Run Pretty says
I need a recipe for the shrimp pasta! 🙂
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily says
I’m not ready at all for hot temps and the sweltering heat of summer, but I’m getting closer to wanting park days and hanging out with a book. I actually really like the treadmill, so I’m pretty certain I’ll be keeping the gym membership active through the spring and summer, it’s the only guaranteed place I can get a good workout in! Have a great weekend 🙂
Andie says
Yes! I garden! In fact, just last night, the little fella helped me and we planted a tomato and a bell pepper plant. I plan on growing cucumbers and zucchini this summer as well! 🙂
Hanna says
Are those bunny ears on H’s hat?? So stinkin cute! I’m excited about the warmer weather. The high for Thomasville, GA is 78 this weekend!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I’m beyond excited for Spring to get here–we’re still getting tons of snow here (in MN) though and the temps are still in the 20s, low 30s at best. It’s making me crazy. Enjoy the warmer temps you have!
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate says
I love me some spring produce!
Emily S says
so glad you liked Unbroken!!! one of my absolute favorites in a long time.
Joanna @ Midwestern Bite says
You are simplifying and my husband is jumping all in with both feet and arms. He’s been doing land contour studies and building swails and garden beds and building seed starter racks and I currently have a giant mound of compost in my driveway. I’m excited for the garden this year and even more excited he is doing all the leg work 😉
Jamie (Mama.Mommy.Mom.) says
From what I hear, Racefest is hilly! I had my fair share at the 8K in Davidson last night. I think I’m going to stick with flat courses for a while, or at least until I get some more hill work under my belt!
