Gone are the days of lifecasting in blogging it seems, but a little peek into someone’s day to day makes me feel connected to them in a way that the tastiest recipe on earth even with the prettiest pictures never could. I love sharing these life-lights (too much of a stretch from highlights? Yes, probably) and I hope you might even enjoy them a little too mom and dad, ahem, I mean dear readers.
So, about our week. My poor sitter got the stomach bug (the worst!) so my neatly organized list of tasks to tackle remained untouched. It’s amazing how quickly I’ve become reliant on having a few Monday hours to myself for computer tasks, but that’s the way things go sometimes, right? So instead, we embraced the week before Halloween in all it’s glory, meaning we took pictures at every pumpkin set up we came across and practiced our witch cackles and “boos.”
That’s a sweet little friend from bootcamp in the picture, meaning, I actually made it to Burn this week! 3 times to be exact, which was more than enough to make me sore. Still, it felt good to be back.
It was fall festival at the girls’ preschools this week, and since they alternate days, they each got to go twice. They minded not and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities both days, from making bird feeders
to hayrides and certainly the caramel apple station.
I just can’t believe this is Hailey’s last preschool fall festival. She’s looking bigger to me everyday.
Kaitlyn tagged along to a tasting at I Love Juice Bar in Mooresville (right beside the new Publix for locals).
While Kaitlyn devoured more than her fair share of yogurt parfaits, I did the same damage on the carrot ginger soup- y’all, it’s so good!!
Of course, Molly and I couldn’t resist taking a couple shots too because we’re wild like that. #funmoms
The ginger shot is my favorite. I’m starting to actually crave that anti inflammatory burn. I’m on a serious ginger kick lately. In this week’s beef, mushroom and kale stir fry, I even added a little extra.
By the way, I think I’ve said it before but the frozen organic cauliflower rice from Whole Foods is on point. So quick and easy to make, that I’ve used it for 2 different dinners this week.
On the eating front, my ‘reset’ this week has me feeling pretty great. It’s amazing how much food affects the way we feel- both physically and mentally. I’m feeling fresh/well-rested and my stomach has felt amazingly unbloated all week.
That’s not to say I was super strict either. I enjoyed a pumpkin spice blondie (or two) and even hit up Chick-fil-A. Though in full disclosure, I did the old school move of not eating the bun. Does anyone even do that anymore? I felt weird. Then snagged some of Kaitlyn’ fries.
While I’m talking Chick-fil-A, I can’t NOT mention the mom’s valet service. Have you guys tried it?! It was my first time and basically you order in the drive through then park. When you walk in, everything is completely set up for you from the place mats to the sauces. A nice lady met us at the door and led us right to our table. I was blown away- it made things so easy!
I’m getting a little chatty, but luckily I can wrap up the week in a few stereotypical SAHM pictures.
First: Target (naturally). I’ve heard a lot about Beautycounter and found this display at Target.
Can anyone vouch if they are the same products/quality as the kind your order online?
Two: Christmas shopping is on my mind. I’m getting ready to knock it out and be done with it.
I really love having a few gifts we can play with together on Christmas morning and I think Hailey will flip over Disney legos. I wanted to price compare so I didn’t snag it yet, but now I’ve found it on Amazon for the same price and prime shipping. Whoop!
Three: This girl. She was messing with the paint and I caught her red handed.
Puns aside, she’s my little wild child for sure. Love her spunk but man, between this and her self-pedicure, it’s clear she’s going to give us a run for our money.
That’s the latest from around here. Hope you all have a great weekend!
What’s on your agenda this weekend?
Any Halloween fun?
Have you started Christmas shopping yet?
When do you usually shop for holiday gifts?
Flashback for fun…

Love the fun positive energy/life style that emanates from your blog. “Fresh air” in these days of political rancor and polemics. Think I’ll re-read your blog over and over!

Can’t wait to see you soon! GO PACK GO! 🙂

The Beauty Counter for Target is the same thing just in smaller quantities hence the smaller price. I can’t believe your target had that much in stock! Ours is always sold out.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh really? Well maybe I should go back and snag one to try while we are well-stocked! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

I second that they are the same quality, just smaller. There is also a code inside to use with a consultant online for discounts and free products when you place an order with them. I hope you are able to try something out, I would love to hear your feedback!

My best friend and her husband (who’s also one of our best friends!) are flying in tonight and staying with us this weekend! We have plans to eat delicious food and watch sports (more the boys).

Love to see scenes from the week! Awesome post. Yes I agree I want to do my Christmas shopping early too. I have my almost 3yo son and 3yo niece and 4yo nephew to shop for! Can’t wait to see your wish list posts for the girls. That always helps to get ideas. 😉

Hey lady! I’m a Beautycounter consultant. Beautycounter for Target is the exact same product as what’s sold online, just in smaller quantities to help lower the price point. If you ever have any questions just let me know!!

I am DONE with Christmas shopping as of today. My daughter started a Waldorf kindergarten and it has made for some interesting shopping. Things like play silks, wooden toys, etc. Now i just have to resist over buying before Christmas hits:).

ps. struggling with your commenting. It makes me put a website in otherwise it goes to a blank screen and says conflict. This happened on the makeup post I commented on last week.
Brittany Dixon says
Ahhhhmazing that you are done already!! I shall use you as my inspiration to get on it 🙂
Also, I don’t know what is up with the commenting but I’ll look into it. I did receive both your comments so it’s kind of strange. I’ll ask my tech guru!! Have a great weekend!

Hi! The Etsy link to Kaitlyn’s shirt isn’t working. Do you know the name of the shop you got it from? Thanks!
Brittany Dixon says
Ah, sorry! I just fixed the link- http://bit.ly/2dXjS1Q – It’s from CrossandCrown on Etsy!
Julie says
Thank you! It’s so cute. I have a little peanut who might need one. 🙂

Ooo I love carrot soup!
Fall festivals made some of my best childhood memories!

Yes the Beautycounter stuff at Target is the same as our online selection!! Except smaller sizes and packages made specifically for Target. We partnered with them for 10 weeks this fall. If you buy a product there, you’ll get a special code for a gift-with-purchase that can be redeemed with whichever consultant you want 😉 The gift rotates so ask your consultant beforehand if you want to know for sure! Though it should show the current one on the websites.
