I tend to fall into routines when buying food, which is why I’m giddy for that spring is arriving and bringing fresh flavors with it. Since I buy largely produce and staples (grains, beans, etc), I don’t often get to come across new fun products. However, I love reading about new products others have found and enjoyed so here a few goodies I’ve come across in the past few months…
R.W. Knudsen Red Raspberry Spritzer: Being pregnant I drink a lot of water. I like plain water just fine, but my taste buds lately were just screaming to mix things up a bit. I picked up a four pack of these spritzers and am obsessed! It’s basically sparkling water, juice and lime (no artificial sweeteners, etc) and it’s absolutely delicious. If you are going to be pregnant during the summer, I highly recommend a few of these in the fridge to pour over ice into a wine glass on a hot afternoon. If you’re not pregnant, I recommend the same… plus a splash of raspberry vodka!
Dosha Pops: These gourmet lollipops pump nutrition into sweet little treats. Each lollipop starts with a base of herbal tea, then blends it with highly regarded Ayurvedic spices – such as turmeric, ginger, and cardamom. They have a sophisticated flavor, but Hailey has enjoyed a couple herself, like the Wishful Pinking. These would make a fun gift for a health-minded friend with a sweet tooth!
Love Grown Foods Power O’s: My friends at Love Grown have done it again and just released their newest product- Power O’s! The main ingredient in these is awesome… BEANS! A blend of navy beans, lentils and garbanzo beans to be exact. Cool, right? Just like their other products, they are non-GMO and are made with real ingredients. Strawberry is my favorite flavor, though Hailey seems to be partial to the honey, which is why she clearly couldn’t wait for me to take the picture.
Applegate Farms Pepperoni: I might as well just buy stock in this company because I’m a huge fan. If you have noticed, we eat pizza around here at least once a week (it’s on tonight’s menu by the way!) and David always wants to add a meat of some sort (oh men). In all honesty, I usually want to as well, but I usually avoid it because of all the nitrite and junk found in processed meats. Well, thank you Applegate Farms because now we can have our pepperoni and eat it too. This stuff is delicious with the right amount of spice and doesn’t contain any sketchy ingredients. Pepperoni pizza lovers rejoice!
There you have it, a few newbies I’m loving.
Have you tried any new products lately?
Please share!

I need to stock up on the red raspberry spritzer for summer- that sounds amazing! We’re big fans of Applegate, too. Hmm, anything new? Honestly, I’ve been in a grocery and meal planning funk- whatever takes least effort. I hope my energy for creative cooking renews soon!

My desire for food creativity is starting to fade a bit towards the end of pregnancy too! I remember it happening last time, too. Hoping it comes back again once baby girl arrives!

We love anything by Applegate farms too! Good quality, healthy and tasty. I have not yet tried their pepperoni. Ah men! 🙂
I am not sure if our local stores carry Lovegrown items, but I am intrigued. Especially by the bean ingredients! I will have to look for those. Thanks for sharing!
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat says
Bean cereal? I’m intrigued! And wIth baby due late-August, I’ll be purchasing some of those spritzers for sure. Thanks for the recommendations!
Brittany Dixon says
Whew, late August! I feel ya, as H was a September baby. Definitely stock up on spritzers and enjoy as much time in a pool as possible 😉

That spritzer sounds so good. I haven’t really found any fun new foods lately. Need to explore a bit more!

I love the applegate products. We used that pepperoni on our homemade pizza last week. It was good. I’ll have to try the rest of these products – they are look right up my alley too.

i’ve been loving seltzer water lately. i have a 1/2 can + water + dash of real fruit juice to cut down on the “seltzy” taste. i just made that word up. umm probably not the healthiest treat, but i’m loving fiber one 90 calorie brownies in cinnamon coffee cake. OOH and Beanitos!!!! have you had those chips?
Brittany Dixon says
Beanitos just sounds fun to say! I’ll keep an eye out for them! 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I’ve heard lots of great thing about Love Grown Power O’s! I’m not surprised since all their other products are always a hit! I need to check out that Applegate Farms pepperoni!
Tia says
My boyfriend usually won’t eat pepperoni or sausage (weird for a guy, no?) because he says we don’t know what’s actually in it. I got some organic Italian sausage the other day, and he was still skeptical because even thought it was organic, it’s not stated what meat parts are mixed in there.

I love mixing cranberry juice with a seltzer for my mocktails. So refreshing and bubbly! My most recent find is a roasted red pepper dip from Trader Joe’s that I watered down and served over spinach ravioli from Costco. So good! It’s got garlic and eggplant in it too.
Brittany Dixon says
What a great idea to turn a dip into a sauce! Sounds delicious 🙂
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I cannot WAIT to try the Power O’s. I hope they sell them near me!
Jill Shelley says
I just did an online search of the Power Os but I cannot find them anywhere. Amazon and Vita Cost carry their other products, but not the Power Os. Where do you buy yours??
I just discovered your blog and I’m loving it already.
Brittany Dixon says
They aren’t available online yet (hopefully by early May!)… buuuuut send me an email (brittany@ahealthysliceoflife.com) and I’ll hook you up 😉
Matt @ Runner Savvy says
I’ll have to look for that pepperoni!
Domi @ Eat, Pray, Lift says
That spritzer sounds so refreshing right now! I love to mix plain seltzer/soda water with a bit of 100% cranberry or pomegranate juice (sometimes a splash of lime or pineapple, too!), and this sounds almost the same. Perfect for those warm almost-summer evenings that are starting to appear!

I don’t know if you want to venture into this web or not, but RW Knudsen is owned by a company that supports non-labeling for GMOs…I personally try to boycott any brand that’s owned by a parent company who is against labeling. I know it’s not a major topic on your blog but just food for thought 😉 seems like you would be interested. Enjoy your last few weeks before baby 2!
Brittany Dixon says
I’m glad you shared! I am not wild about GMOs and prefer using my dollar to ‘vote’ for changes I’d like to see be made in the food supply. I try to buy local and organic, from sources I trust, but I’ll be honest, I’m far from perfect about it and my pregnant self said WOAH THOSE LOOK GOOD! 😉
I always appreciate more info on the subject though and will probably stick to my seltzer and adding juice instead. Thanks!

I’m with you on investing in Applegate Farms! Love all their delicious nitrate free, uncured meats!

I’ve had spritzers from that brand before and I love sprucing things up sometimes when I need something more than water. Twist my arm, I’ll add the vodka ;). And those lollipops. I bought some natural candies last week and it was nice to just have them if I wanted one the odd time. I think I deserve it haha. I love Love Grown, hopefully those power O’s come to Canada soon!
