By now you might have noticed the little Shaklee tab at the top of my blog. I’ve been Shaklee rep for almost a year now and have linked to it here or there when discussing the products I use. However, I’ve never really opened up about it for a couple of reasons.
1. If you would have told me I’d ever join a direct selling company I would have laughed my head off. It’s not my style because I am terrible at sales. If you don’t believe me, you can ask my old manager from back when I sold radio advertising… abysmal I tell ya.
2. I’m not one of those people that chug the kool-aid. I know every one of you knows someone that sells XYZ and swears it’s the most life changing thing that has ever happened to them. I’m all about products that help improve health, wellness and the environment, but when someone tells me a product can flat out do magic, or they are obsessed with everything about every single product, I’m skeptical.
3. I really love this space and respect you guys, so I try to be thorough in my experience and research before sharing things with you.
However, because of those reasons, I actually feel like I’ve done a disservice by not sharing what I like about Shaklee with you. After all, I chose to partner with them, right? Over the past year I’ve bought many of the products to use for my family and have been impressed by the sourcing and testing of their ingredients and their dedication to quality through independent outside studies. That’s not to say I’ve loved every single product. I’ve used the money back guarantee myself once (and can vouch that it’s pretty easy).
So after much trial and error- here are my top 5 favorite products.
Get Clean Starter Kit – The Organic Basic-H cleaning concentrate has endless uses and is something I use everyday. I love it because it’s non-toxic (so I let Hailey clean too), it works and it lasts forever (another reason I don’t mind letting Hailey clean her toy kitchen with it- it seriously lasts foreverrrr).
The kit comes with much more than I have pictured, like disinfecting wipes, laundry detergent, dish wash concentrate, dryer sheets, and more. I highly recommend it, but it’s also one of Oprah’s Favorite Things and Real Simple Magazine’s favorite concentrate. Trusted sources? I think so.
Vitalizer – David and I both take the Vitilizer, which is a strip of vitamins that include a multivitamin, antioxidants, omega-3’s, B vitamins, vitamin D, a probiotic and more. Through my own research before I started taking anything, I’ve learned that a vitamin is not just a vitamin. So much goes into how your body absorbs it, where it is sourced, if the label actually reflects what is in the product (spoiler: very often it doesn’t because they aren’t regulated by the FDA).
Could I find a cheaper vitamin pack? Probably. But I could also probably find cheaper food. Health is a top priority for me, so I’m OK putting more of our budget towards top quality in the category, especially when I’ve been able to tell a physical difference myself.
Energy Chews – These things freaking rock. I was really hoping they’d taste like candy (they don’t), but man, if I’m dragging I eat one about 15 minutes before a run and notice a SERIOUS difference in my energy and stamina. I also may occasionally eat one around 2pm if it’s been an especially trying day in toddler world.
Vitalizing Protein– Full of non-GMO, water-washed (not chemical like so many others) soy protein buuuuuuuuuut really it just tastes like a filling milkshake. I have shakes on and off and really enjoy them, but you know who has actually become a fan? David! I make his with banana, peanut butter, almond milk, spinach and vanilla protein. What’s not to love about that?
Nature Bright – This stuff. I don’t have enough words. It’s something I didn’t use for a while because I didn’t grasp what a laundry booster was, but now I’ve used to get breast milk, grass stains, wine, poop (I have kids, remember?) and blood out of clothes. I can’t recommend this stuff enough!
I could go on about how they use no artificial colors or preservatives, how they have a long, solid history and the lengths they go through to ensure they are environmentally neutral, but for brevity sake, I won’t.
And let me just put this out there… if you are excited to try the products, or to start making money from home while helping others get healthier OR are just so elated that you just want ALL THE INFORMATION. Awesome! Email me.
If you don’t, that’s fine too. I just figured if I share my favorite foods, exercises and baby items with you, I should also share my favorite green health products too!

Fire away! I’m an open book.

I wholeheartedly agree! I did not even want to try them at first because of the whole direct sales thing. But, I love everything else you have recommended. So I tried them. I absolutely LOVE most of the Shaklee products I have tried.
I really searched carefully for the best multivitamins, and I am convinced these are it. Even comparing these to well-known natural food-based brands at Whole Foods. Many of the other brands were lacking in basic nutrients I would want in a multivitamin (like calcium and iron…what’s up with that?!). I would suggest if people are really struggling with budget, try the stand alone Vita-Lea. It is very cost-effective and is the best multivitamin for the money.

Hi Brittany! I’ve enjoyed reading your thoughts about Shaklee products, and I have to admit, I’m tempted to try some! One thing I’d really like to know is how easy the vitamins are to swallow? I have a really sensitive gag reflex and find “horse pills” are difficult (for me) to swallow. How big are the Shaklee vitamins? (it’s hard to tell from the picture but they look pretty big!) Thanks!

I’m curious about this too! The vitamin strips look like the most comprehensive thing I could take, and I loooove that they’re in a literal strip as opposed to a regimen of bottles. But could someone who needs to take a moment before swallowing an Advil liqui-gel get away with taking these?
Brittany Dixon says
Hey ladies! To answer your questions, the pills are ‘average vitamin’ size (if there is such a thing?!). I am fine with swallowing pills so I don’t have first hand experience, but I have a few friends who don’t like pills that have had success by swallowing them with a thicker liquid (like a smoothie) or cutting them in half.
And yes, I love the strips too because they are ready to go so I can throw it in my purse or pack a few when I travel. So convenient!
Oh, also, I divide them up over the day. Taking half with breakfast and half later in the day works well for me!
Email me if you have further questions and maybe I can help more 🙂

Do they taste like a vitamin? I don’t mind swallowing whole pills but the taste of “grown up” vitamins gives me chills and makes me gag which is why I am still on the gummy vitamin bandwagon even though I’m sure they aren’t as great as the vita-strips you’re talking about. Thanks for posting!
Brittany Dixon says
I certainly don’t notice a taste, as they have a slick coating, but I’m not too sensitive to that stuff. I will say they don’t make me nauseous (wahoo!) as vitamins I’ve taken in the past have, so that’s a plus!

From one Shaklee lover to another…I agree with all of your favorites! We use the Vitalizing Protein every.single.day. It’s really the only way I can get good nutrition into my kindergartner before school because he pretty much refuses breakfast. But he will drink a chocolate-peanut butter smoothie! I’ve tried almost every product in my 2 years of being a Shaklee distributor and have been really pleased! Have you tried the Enfuselle line yet? I’m in love with it!
Brittany Dixon says
Yes! I use the AM Repair every morning and am looking at what I should try next. Any recommendations?
Jessica says
I also use the Cleansing Gel and the Hydrating Moisturizer (in the round pot) and really like them. I’m going to try the eye cream next month!

GREAT blog! I strongly agree too. I love my Shaklee products! They are the only company I have stuck with and trust. I even trust them with vitamins for my kids. I’d like to see a blog on what you give and have given to your girls. I love reading your stuff because I know you are authentic and are not just trying to sell or promote!
Brittany Dixon says
Hey Kelly! Thanks so much for the kind words 🙂
I totally agree, Shaklee Incredivites are some of my favorites too, see –> http://www.ahealthysliceoflife.com/friday-favorite-childrens-vitamins/
Hailey asks for hers everyday, which I love, especially now that she is in preschool and the weather is getting cold… here comes germ season 😉
Marjorie says
My son (2yrs) asks for his Incredivites every day too. And then he will ask for more…LOL! I try to explain that they are different from food and he only needs one. He still asks for more.
Brittany Dixon says
I have to explain to H that she only gets one too! She gets confused because I take the strip with several vitamins so she always wants more too- haha!

Well presented, Brittany. We are very pleased with our Shaklee experience as well.

I’ve never heard of Shaklee, but I love the sound of those energy chews! I love soft chews like that!
Alex @ Get Big, Go To Work says
Brittany….thank you so much for sharing a review of these products. I honestly never looked at that tab before, but I love this review of the products. We definitely spend more on food, vitamins, etc. in our household too because our health and well-being are so important to us. I think the energy chews, vitalizing vitamins and protein look and sound amazing. I do have some questions- I’ll be sure to email you so this post isn’t longer than I’ve already made it. Thanks for all of this new information.

I’m a fan of Shaklee as well, but you already knew that 🙂 To add to your list; I absolutely love the cleaning products. The grease spray is incredible. We use it to wipe down our microwave and stovetop and it really just soaks everything right up and makes it pretty again.
I want to bite the bullet and try the vitamins, but ouch, the price gets me every time. I wonder if I could make them last two months by taking a strip every other day or does that defeat the point? 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
I would think every other day is better than never, right? 🙂
Since you are already a member and get that special pricing, I’ll also tell you that if you put it on autoship, you get an additional 10% off, so that’s nice too! Hit me up on gchat if you want to discuss it more.
Now I’m off to continue living vicariously through your Alaska trip! I’ve been reading while nursing so I can’t comment, but I must say I’m disappointed you didn’t try harder to sneak Daisy home with you 😉
Irina says
Hi Brittany. What was the one product you’ve sent back? Thanks!
Brittany Dixon says
I returned the hydrating cleansing lotion. It didn’t work well for my skin type. I am going to try the cleansing gel instead, but haven’t gotten to do so yet!
Caitlin says
Hi Brittany,
What I put into my body(and on my body!) is extremely important to me. I am totally bummed that the vitamin I make sure to take every single day is not all that great! I was wondering how many days one box of the vitamins covers? Even with the member discount the single box of them is more than my weekly budget for groceries! I am considering trying them, but I would love to know how many days the box covers. Health is important to me, but some one has to pay the bills. 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Hey Caitlin (love you name BTW ;))
The box includes 30 vita-strips, so a month’s supply. However, I’d also highly recommend the multivitamin on it’s own too. It’s cost effective and the best multivitamin for the money http://brittanydixon.myshaklee.com/us/en/shop/healthyfoundations/essentials/product-_p_vita-lea_p_
Plus it is $16 for a month’s supply with member pricing, so more budget-friendly! Feel free to email me with any question you have about it. I’m happy to help if I can!
Lauren Brennan says
Great. Now I want ALL THE PRODUCTS. 😉
I’m assuming that the energy chews are nursing-mama friendly?
