I’ve always been a bit weird. Example #97454857: I loved the morning announcements in school. What can I say? I always liked to know what was going on and I was that girl that would Shhh at you if you were talking when the intercom screeched on. I’m sorry.
Announcment #1: I had a blast in New Orleans! My favorite experience was an entire Friday spent at Galatoire while outside in the city, a flash flood raged on.
This place has a rich tradition, southern charm, a strict dress code (some of our group had to go back to the hotel and change) and apparently it is pretty exclusive. Somehow we got the hook up and spent lunch through dinner sipping champagne and chatting with locals with deep N’awlins accents.
I might or might not have spent the entire afternoon referring to a local politician we met as the gov’nah.
A close second was tearing up Bourbon Street at Gold Mine Saloon.
I had an incredible time, but the smile I got from Hailey when David and she picked me up from the airport melted my heart into a giant puddle. I was so happy to see them! Plus, I was seriously sick of pumping. Fist pumps for all your pumping mommas out there!
Announcement #2 : Munchkin Meals. I got some great feedback from my facebook friends on the link up. I was confused because it was drawing a lot of readers and interest, but not many people were linking up. So, here’s my new solution. #MunchkinMeals will be an every other week occurrence. There will be a link up this Thursday, with a focus on DINNER. Two weeks from Thursday, we’ll have another munchkin meals link up with documentation of a full day of food.
Also, please indicate the age of your little one in the beginning of your post because I’ve received lots of emails about people looking for kids similar in age to their own. There really is a growing interest and I encourage your to join up and share your child’s meals. Fancy meals aren’t necessary. In fact, most emails I get are looking for quick, easy options, so don’t be discouraged. If you have any questions, please email me Brittany@ahealthysliceoflife.com
Announcement #3: It’s come to my attention that I’ve been nominated for Best Personal Blog for the Charlotte City Web Awards. I was so surprised and honored! The polls close at 10am TODAY, haha. So if you have a minute in the next couple hours and want to vote (I’m a little behind at the moment), please do so here.
Announcement #4: Today I’m busy washing, drying and repacking. Hitting the road again tonight! Don’t you just love summer vacation?
Are you visiting anywhere fun this summer?

I love reading Munchkin Meals! I’m glad you aren’t going to stop. I don’t have a munchkin (yet!) to participate with but if you’re still doing this in about 9 months I’m there!
Brittany says
I’ll be expecting your link up in about 9 months! 😉 I can’t believe how far along you are already!
Amanda @ Sistas of Strength says
I like the munchkin meal solution! 🙂
Glad you had fun on your trip and I don’t blame you for being happy to get back and see that sweet little face. Plus, you’re right…pumping is HARD.

I’ve always wanted to visit New Orleans. I bet it was a blast! I go on vacation soon, and I can’t wait. I neeeeeed it! 🙂

I love this “morning announcement” theme, I always loved them in school too 🙂 That, and writing my homework assignments in my “agenda book” haha
Erica says
So glad you had a fun and safe trip! I’ve never head of Galatories … it may be to fancy for my blood but I’ll check it out next time we’re there (two weekends from now thank goodness!)
Brittany says
Yes, check it out and tell me what you think! It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Everyone walks from table to table and it turns into a giant tailgate-like party. Pretty fun!

Great solution for Munchkin Meals!
We’re going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina next month — I can’t wait!

I love the Munchkin meals linkup you have but we as a family, pretty much stay the same with our meals each week. So it does not work for me 🙁
Danica @ It's Progression says
I saw some of your instagram pictures over the weekend and it looked like you had a great time! yay!
my family takes the same one-week vacation every year. We have a time share on a lake that we’ve used since I was probably 9 years old, and we head there this Friday! You’d think we’d be sick of going to the same area each year but we continue to love it and have a blast every time!
Brittany says
I’ll bet it’s pretty awesome reminiscing and accumulating more memories in the same spot each year! I love that you go with the whole family, too- how special!

It looks like you had a great time! My husband and I are going to NOLA for a couple of days in October for our first trip without Emmie! Random question…how did you build up enough milk for Hailey while you were away? I’m already trying to figure out how much I’ll need and how long it will take to save up, ha!
Brittany says
I started stockpiling milk in May for this trip. I would pump after most morning nursing sessions. I saved up more than enough milk, but probably made one mistake. Since I’m always with H, I rarely give her a bottle. When I was gone she didn’t take a bottle very well. She’d drink the milk, but not as much as she usually does. Luckily she is a great food eater, so I knew she wouldn’t go hungry, but I’d recommend adding a bottle in every so often so Emmie is used to it.
You’re going to have a blast and the smile you’ll get when you return will be priceless! 🙂
Erin says
Thanks for the tips! I know we’ll have fun! I’ll definitely try to give her some bottles before it’s time so she will (hopefully) be used to it! Thanks again! Have a great week!
Paulina says
Geez you sure get to travel a lot! Looking forward to reading more Munchkin Meals 🙂

Looks like NOLA was a blast! So ready for our vacation to Chicago in a few weeks — I need it bad!
So glad you are continuing MunchkinMeals — I think a good post topic would be eating out with your kiddo. Just an idea.

1. I used to be the one who MADE the morning announcements all through my 8th grade year. I had completely forgotten about that until now! Had you been at my school, you might have been the only person listening.
2. Love that you are embracing the curly hair.
Lisa says
Looks like so much fun!
Congrats on the nomination!!!! I definitely will vote for you.
I always loved those morning announcements too. Just call us nerds;)

Miranda @ Biting Life says
My family and I went to Galatoire’s for this past New Year’s Eve! They are super strict with dress code, I’ve never experienced anything like it. It was so hot in there because every table was full, so my boyfriend tried to take his jacket off but the waiter whispered in his ear that he had to put his jacket back on!
