Happy Friday y’all! I hope you’ve had a good week. I’ve felt a little discombobulated and am happy to have reached the weekend so I can hopefully get some of my ducks in a row with the extra time. I feel I haven’t done just a random catch up lately, so let’s chat!
I realized I’m more grocery store dependent than I ever thought. I did last week’s shopping at Publix and though I’m a Publix fan, it took me so long to find what I needed. Not a knock to their layout, just a nod to my comfort level at Whole Foods. I am feeling curious about switching up grocery stores to compare prices/bills/quality and may do a month where I switch locations every week.
These are the kinds of things that sadly excite me.
That and realizing my hair always looks better the day after I curl it/want it to look good.
Anyone else love their hair so much more when it’s a day or too dirty?
In other news, I’m in the process of giving my living room a face lift. Two of my talented and generous friends, Bekah and Brittney, are walking me through it and I’m super excited to see the finished product once we’re done.
Step 1: get rid of these curtains.
Does anyone else know they don’t like something about their decor but don’t know what to do to fix it so it just stays? Ugh, that’s TOTALLY me.
The curtains came down and we went to Ikea, where we found out Kaitlyn is 1 inch too short for the kids’ play area, so chaos ensued.
Still, we snagged 3 sets of these curtains. A little ironing later and that side of the living room feels like a whole new world!
Not an after pic yet, but progress!
This week has mostly been filled with a lot of mundane adulting. We’ve had workers at our house fixing the extensive damage done to our exterior by some feisty woodpeckers. I got a nail in my tire and needed an oil change, so I spent a morning at the car shop with my little Elsa.
This kid. She either wants to be Elsa or… MAUI. She bounces around singing You’re Welcome and says she wants to be Maui when she grows up.
Love her.
I’m grateful the girls are at an age where they are pretty good in the car. We picked up some new Song & Story CDs as well as some sing along songs and they’ve been happy to run errands with me.
On the home front, I’m so far behind on laundry that I literally have zero jeans or workout pants left. I have this one pair of gray leggings, and if you’re me you think you can throw this vest (some colors currently on sale!) over anything and call it an outfit.
Stylish this week? No quite, but comfy!
I did make it through both girls’ closets and realized Hailey could never find pajamas because she didn’t have any pajamas. GAP has a bunch on sale right now (including the Disney pajamas) so I bought her some new ones.
She gets this excited over princess pajamas. I can’t even imagine what she’s going to do when we arrive at the Magic Kingdom (soon!!).
The week’s chaos has been punctuated by some random meals.
Fun fact: Hailey’s favorite cheese is Parmesan. She loves it even after slicing herself on the grater. That’s true love (and poor parental supervision) for ya.
I’ve been trying to clear out some space on my phone and organize my screen shots. I save so many meal ideas that way, like this orange chicken from WhollyRegina.
Whew, see. Me = scatterbrained.
There is a lot of fun stuff coming up this month and year, like one of my best college buds getting married! She’s got an eye for style and proved it starting with this adorable little surprise that showed up on my doorstep yesterday…
She gets engaged and I get a gift. Yeah baby! 😉
This weekend I hope to comb through all the projects, events, and trips for the year with David so I can feel a little less disorganized.
Other weekend goals: I want to be snuggled up like this by 5:00 pm today.
Please let them want to snuggle me forever.
So that’s a little catch up on my end.
What’s been going on with you?

The needed drapes look great, as does your hair, your kids, your food basket, and meals! Have a wonderful weekend!

You too daddy! xo!

I am totally on the same train of thought with grocery stores. I feel like I have been overspending on groceries for so long, and am trying to be more cognizant of finding the best deals, shopping sales, etc. I think I have it narrowed down to three stores, so we shall see!
Can’t wait to hear all about your Disney Trip! I am thinking we might start with a Disney Cruise next year. All recommendations we have seen/heard (yours included!) have looked so amazing. Maybe when my son is 3.5 or so.
Have a great weekend!

Hailey STILL talks about the Disney cruise (and says she wants to live on one when she gets older- ha!). So I have no doubt you would enjoy it! Disney really does an amazing job bringing magic to life. I’m giddy about Disney and am sure I’ll take (and share!) a million pics 🙂

We just got a Whole Foods and I had no idea where anything was! I was totally losing my mind walking around the store 15 times to find things I needed. So many secret aisles ha! Also, did you know instead of taking Screen Shots, Instagram now has a save button? It’s the little flag under the picture. This way you can save whatever (and no one knows what you save) instead of the pesky screen shots that take up my space, ha!
Brittany Dixon says
WHAT?!! No, I didn’t know about that- life changing!! Going to flag about a million things now… Thanks Heather! 🙂
Jen says
Yes! I found this by accident and I was so excited!!!

Your living room is beautiful, I love those new drapes! And I feel the same about grocery stores! I drive completely out of my way so I can go to Whole Foods, for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I know where everything is!
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks Annie! And I feel the same way about Whole Foods- I can navigate it with my eyes closed 🙂
Laura says
I love Whole Foods too and know my way around…It’s just when I get to the part where you pay, I’m always shocked about the cost of quality, fresh food. Publix is my go-to.

I LOVE all your windows! The new drapes look great! And I think your outfit w/ the gray leggings is totally acceptable. 😉 Ha ha it makes me crazy that my hair looks it’s worst on the day I wash it, but it always does! wtf?
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks Julie- I’m excited to continue transforming that room 🙂 And yes, my a=hair is always SO big and fluffy when I first wash it- drives me crazy!
Stephanie says
Hahaha my 3 year old daughter is obsessed with both Moana and Elsa too. The only thing I’ve heard since we saw the movie is You’re Welcome.

Wow, those curtains make a huge difference!
