Happy Halloween!! What are you making for breakfast?? These amazing pancakes??
Healthy Whole Wheat Flax Pancakes
Yeah, me neither.
I had full intentions to do something cute (trying to rival the cutesy Halloween snacks I made last year), but the holiday really snuck up on me this year and I didn’t buy a squeeze bottle. C’est la vie.
In fact, I’m just hoping I have everything we need for our costumes tonight (homemade for the win!), but at the end of the day, Hailey is 3 and wants to be a pink kitty cat so the fact I have ears for her to put on is more than enough. After all, she was over the moon with just this.
It’s been a busy week around here, coupled with the fact I woke up at 2am the other night with the throbbing pain of a clogged duct and was up for a nice chunk of time pumping and hot compressing. That was fun. But that’s life, right? I’ll bet there is at least one thing going on in your life throwing off your routine right now, right? (Please say yes). Since that’s just how life seems to be lately, I’ve found a new workout that fits the chaos.
It’s awesome because you can pretty much do it anywhere- at the gym with a track or treadmill, in your front yard, in a field.
I can’t take credit for it of course; I found it on Jen’s blog, which is always my go-to for workout inspiration. I used this one (that she has a great instructional video for).
Since I first tried this one a couple weeks ago, I’ve tweaked it every time and it keeps me entertained.
At the gym, I’ve done tricep dips, step ups, crunches with a half mile run in between each set.
At home, I’ve done push ups, lunges and side planks then ran up and down my street in between each set. (Stroller friendly!)
Realistically I’m only doing it about twice a week right now, but it serves it’s purpose and offers me a nice strength/cardio blend that feels like a solid workout in only about 20 minutes. Right now I’m all about efficiency because it’s either that or nothing at all.
These workouts, the short yoga youtube videos with David and double stroller walks are my intentional exercises of the moment. I hope to build back up intensity and duration, but that will come with time. But not today. Today is about spooky fun, costumes and trick-or-treating! Happy Halloween!
What workout are you loving lately?
Any great Halloween costumes out there?
What are your Halloween plans?

Pink kitty cat wins the Halloween prize! (No bias here!!)

I like that work out idea a lot! Lately I’ve been really bored just running on the treadmill, probably bc I’m more of a sprinter than long distance runner. I’ll have to try this workout soon to mix up what I’m doing at the gym! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

My first thought when I saw the Halloween waffles was “wow, our kids were so deprived growing up”—so happy to see that you really didn’t make them.
My vote would be for your precious pink kitty cat!

I’m a big fan of her workouts- super quick and effective. I’m planning to jump back into workouts next week now that I received my all clear at my post partum check up. This style if workout will be perfect!

I am impressed you do that whole workout in 20 min? It would take me that long just to run a half mile, haha!
My daughter will be rocking a Minnie Mouse costume today! 🙂

Oh shoot no! Haha, the original and up and down the street is about 20 minutes. When I’ve done the half mile loop (it was an accident be first time ;)) it took longer! I wish I was that speedy.
Love the Minnie mouse costume!! H loves minnie mouse 🙂

Cute Hailey! We had Halloween parade of costumes yesterday at my son’s school, plus we carved a pumpkin when we got home, followed by eating chili and watching It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Classic!
Today we are trick-or-treating, of course. Canon is a lion, and he loves roaring. He has been practicing knocking on doors around the house and then yelling “Trick Or TREAT!” LOL. My in laws are coming over to take pictures and eat homemade pizza with us. I love Halloween!!!

I’m all about shortened workouts these days!
And I’m glad to see that you did not attempt to make those pancakes – not that they’re not adorable, but because I always want to do cutesy things and fail miserably. From one mama to another, you make me feel good. 😉
And that comment sounded weird. You know what I mean.

I wish I had the patience/time to do those awesome pancakes. We did Eggs in Basket with a pumpkin shaped hole. The kiddos are MIckey and Minnie Mouse this year, and depending on their level of cooperation this afternoon/evening, I’ll have to attempt to get decent photos. :p
I recently started the Mutu System program because i still have have a bit of DR (Diastasis Rectis) from pregnancy. I’ve had some trouble sticking to the diet (which is kind of paleo), but the easy exercises are slowly closing my DR and I am seeing some changes. If I could get myself to follow the program precisely, I’d probably look amazing! :p

I love that workout! I’m not sure I’d want to do it more than two days a week. I often look to Jenn for inspiration and borrow, on occasion, ideas (not complete workouts) for my own classes.

thank you so much for giving my workout a shout out and i’m happy to hear it’s been working for you. you always do such a great job with using the format and switching it up!
those pancakes scare me…way too crafty! 😛

I’ve fallen back in love with running the past couple of weeks. Nothing crazy (I have plans for zero races), but just nice 2- or 3-mile jogs. I go in such workout phases though that I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m loving something new tomorrow 🙂

I’m loving those spider web pancakes! Too cute! Current workouts – running!

First of all, those pancakes look divine! I need those in my life! Secondly, your workout sounds amazing. It definitely covers a lot of things! Do be careful, though, so you can avoid some of the common injuries like these listed here: http://www.usedgymequipment.com/7-common-gym-injuries-how-to-avoid/
