Hello and happy Friday! Can you guys believe May is halfway over? I picked Hailey up from preschool the other day and signed up to bring grapes to a party. When I asked which party, the teacher kindly told me it was the last day of school party which is next week. NEXT WEEK!? How the heck did that sneak on me? The girls are signed up for not even a single camp at this point, but I’m looking forward to summer of swimming, playing and just being together.
Speaking of swimming, Hailey is on the swim team! Before visions of breaststroke start flying through your head, let me assure you she’s not even quite to a doggie paddle yet. Still, she made the junior team, which means no real meets, but daily swim practice. It’s going to be incredible for her, I can already tell. Unfortunately, the weather for the first week of practices has been in the 60s. I’ll hand it to Hailey though, she’s a champ and hasn’t complained once. Still, I couldn’t help but crack up laughing when David sent me this snapchat video earlier this week:
The poor kid had blue lips! We are all looking forward to the predicted high 80’s next week.
In other happenings, my friend Jodi celebrated a birthday this week and her friend Kristi threw a mid-week celebration that was just so much fun. Ladies chatting, wine flowing, apps aplenty and even a boat ride!
I stayed out way past my bedtime, but it was worth it. Girls nights are good for the soul. Plus, I got to wear real clothes!
top // jeans // shoes (similar) // fitbit (so fashionable)
The self-time did so-so, but it’s the only option I had as I was running out of the house late (something I hate!) after we discovered our water heater decided to kick the bucket only minutes before I had to leave. Water water everywhere and not a warm drop to be found.
I could think of a million more fun things to spend a big chunk of money on, but adulting means taking care of boring household repairs (hold on to 16 as long as you cannnnnn).
Still, when the plumbers arrived, all I could think of was… can I keep the box? The kids would love it!

Speaking of, I took Kaitlyn to her two year appointment this week.
Well, I was right- she’s a little thing! Well, kind of. She weighs 21.8 lbs (only in the 1.8th percentile) but is 35 inches long (in the 87th percentile). The doc said she is doing great! Since she doesn’t drink milk, she told me to stay cognizant of her calcium intake, but other than that, she’s just a long and lean little girl.
In random news, I’ve added another supplement to my daily regimen-
BioSil. (<–Read the reviews- impressive!) I picked it up at Whole Foods after it was recommended highly from a friend. It’s supposed to do wonders with hair, skin and nails. I’ve only been taking it about 2 weeks now, but my hair down feel like it is growing faster. And my nails may feel a little stronger too?

I’ve also been meaning to update you on the garden. Spoiler alert: IT’S GROWING!
In large part no doubt to the nice balance of rain and sunshine we’ve had lately. The basil was nibbled on a bit and I think it probably still does best in a pot, but the cherry tomatoes and zucchini plants are really taking off. We even have snap peas!
I can’t wait to show the girls and let them eat them right off the vine.
But before we are harvesting the garden and feeling enticed to jump in the lake by hot, sunny days, I’m embracing this strange late-May cold snap by making a batch of my favorite sweet potato chili this weekend for possibly the last time of the season!
That about sums up all that has being on around here.
Fill me in friends, what’s been going on with you lately?

Oh yeah, I hate it when household, big-ticket items break. It’s just so annoying taking care of these things on top of everything else!
I love the top you wore for the party, and I’m not a prints girl so that probably says a lot. 😉
Your hair looks amazing – I have an appointment tomorrow, and I can’t wait.
Have a great weekend!

I was never “long” and lean, but I was always so small for my age (same height and weight percentile beginning at age 2 or 3, which was always about the 5th percentile!) that sometimes I wasn’t even “on the chart”. Which used to insult me when I was old enough to understand 🙂

Hair is gorgeous – so is the garden! Every day I argue with my son that its not shorts weather yet in NJ. Counting down to pool weather.
Kate says
Hailey is way braver than me! I don’t think I could hang out in a pool so cold. Though I never was an athletic swimmer, that’s awesome she is starting so early!

My son (turning 2 the first week in June) has the exact same body type! When he finally made it up to the 5% for weight at our last weight check our pediatrician did a little happy dance. He titters on the edge of 5% for weight, and is around 70-80% for height. Long and lean!

Kaitlyn has so much hair! So pretty.
How is Hailey old enough for swim team!? I’m excited for Wyatt to do it too next year. I’m really excited for him to learn how to swim. It’s such good exercise and fun, some of my best childhood memories were playing in the pool with neighbors.
Our water heater crapped out on us earlier in the year and completely flooded the basement. It’s amazing how much damage water can do. It was like 1/2 inch covering the floors and that lead to total demolition of the basement and it’s still being put back together. Drywall went in this week! It’s hard being an adult. I never really felt like an adult until I had 2 kids, and now home ownership is really really making me feel like an adult. How am I turning 32 in September?…
Have a great weekend!
(& your hair looks great & your outfit is so cute)

That Haley quote might just be my favorite ever! Hahahahaha. 😀 She’s a trooper!
I feel you on adulting. Why does everything have to break at the least opportune time? Go figure!
Also – your style photos are better than you think they are. 🙂

I love your hair right now. I’ve been seeing your snaps and it looks so good this length and with the curls it’s just beautiful!

Your garden looks so pretty! Great job! I have heard good things about biotin (<- I am assuming that's what Biosil is?). I got to put on real clothes yesterday to go eat lunch with a friend who was in town. It was so nice. I need to get out like that more often! Canon's school ends this week too. We have no plans for summer either, child care wise. I am getting nervous about not having those little breaks while he is at school. :-/ But it will be nice to not have to rush off in the morning, not have to pack lunch, etc.

Is BioSil safe for breastfeeding moms? Sorry, I can’t recall if you still breastfeeding. Thanks so much!
Brittany Dixon says
If you are breastfeeding or pregnant, then no, don’t take it. Great to check! We are basically weaned (once every other day but mostly for comfort- I don’t have much milk left so we are almost done) so I felt ok taking it, but if I were still nursing once a day or more, I wouldn’t.
