I remember when Hailey was born, just as the fall season was starting in 2011. I was filled with the excitement of bringing the holidays to life for my baby girl and gleefully went all out for fall and Christmas decorations. I’m sure my three month old at the time really appreciated the plethora of twinkly lights and all, but it doesn’t hold a candle to how a four year old feels and reacts about the impending holiday season.
Chevron Chic Halloween Monogrammed Mug
This year Hailey has been talking about Halloween for months. Months. She’s decided on her costume (pirate princess) and giddily tells every stranger we run into about it. In fact, she is pretty firm that Halloween is her favorite holiday.
Whether she changes her tune when Santa comes to town is up for discussion, but in the meantime the orange and black and spooky cats are ruling the roost at the Dixon house. And you know what? It’s contagious.
I’ve jumped on the bandwagon in full force by lighting my pumpkin spiced candles and pulling out our fall leaves and sparkly pumpkins. I was also stoked to discover this secret weapon, which has taken our holiday fun to the next level!
Modern Halloween Black Orange Polka Dot Doormat
Let me tell you about Zazzle.
Zazzle is a marketplace where you can custom design nearly anything including notebooks, lunchboxes, iphone cases and more. Recently they’ve added a Halloween section with hundred of items and designs ready to choose from and make your own.
BOO Black Grunge Stripes Halloween Serving Tray
Y’all, it is SO simple to navigate and customize. It has really upped the ante on our Halloween decor fun!
I loved the holidays as a kid myself, but I really think I might be getting even more out of being the one that gets to create the magic for my girls. We’ve been really getting into it this year with Halloween crafts and Halloween songs (this is a simple and cute one that Hailey enjoys demonstrating for Kaitlyn and here is a catchy one that introduces some of typical Halloween monsters).
To take it one step further, we ordered a few customized items with the girls’ names and wow, game over, Hailey is psyched!
As difficult as it is to explain to a four year old that you can’t ring someone’s doorbell and get candy just any old time, I sure do love feeding off her holiday joy.
Little Pumpkin Baby Halloween Tee
With fall weather here and the holiday season upon us, I can confidently say we are ready to bring on the fun!
If you’re looking for a few items to bring Halloween into your home, I highly suggest checking out Zazzle’s Halloween Shop. It’s quick, cute and convenient, as you don’t have to drive all over town to find good deals on decorations. Give it a try and let them deliver the cuteness right to your front door!
Have you decorated for Halloween/fall yet?
What is your favorite fall decoration?
I really love mums, pumpkins and my polka dot doormat!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
That door mat is so cute! This is our first halloween in our house and I think we’ll FINALLY get trick or treaters for the first time! I can’t wait!
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
That doormat! So cute! Canon has been talking about Halloween a lot this year too. He is going to be a fireman. And I think everybody he comes into contact with knows it…LOL!
Brittany Dixon says
Ahh a fireman!! Adorable- I can’t wait to see pictures!
Kate says
The Little Pumpkin shirt is adorable!!
I haven’t decorated anything yet – life has been too busy with moving and me starting work again. But I seriously hope to get my game together come November… 🙂
Hilary says
Your decorations are so cute! Love those trick or treat bags too! My favorite decoration for fall is a homemade carved pumpkin! I love making my own decorations!
Brittany Dixon says
So true, you just can’t beat a homemade jack-o-latern! We have one carved and outside already so I”m crossing my fingers it makes it to Halloween 😉
Rain San Martin says
Pirate Princess, that’s what I call an awesome costume! It’s hard to pick a favorite fall decoration. For fall I would say leaf foliage on the mantel. For Halloween, door and window silhouettes are my favorite.

We’re in full Halloween swing over at our house as well. I love putting up purple lights, pumpkins (everywhere!), and all the yummy smelling candles. My favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus, so I was watching that while I peeled apples for pie and my 3.5 year old was enthralled. He keeps asking when we can watch the witch movie again. Ha ha.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh my gosh YES Hocus Pocus is my favorite movie! I was wondering if H would be old enough and now I’m wondering if I should give it a go if your 3.5 year old liked it! Thanks for the info 🙂
Lauren @ Oh Hey, I Like That! says
Zazzle really does some great stuff! When I used to teach, I used Zazzle to make posters! Sidenote: the Frankenstein popcorn cup is ADORABLE!
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl says
I love how you get into the holidays for your girls – my parents never made a big deal of them, but it’s something I really want to do in future!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
This year David and I have decorated. I think it’s because we both really want a kid, so we’re getting in the spirit of having one already — haha. We got some awesome lights at Target. I really like their skeleton lights that you can put in the ground and light up a doorway path. I’m also really digging the pumpkin candle I picked up last week.
Tanya says
I agree, being a mom makes me love the holidays more and more.
Jessica @ Our Young Adventures says
So sweet! This is one of the things I look forward to when I have children, enjoying the magic of the holiday’s again like a child. I can’t wait to see Hailey’s pirate princess costume!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Aww what a sweet lil’ pumpkin! Great Halloween decor!
Ruth says
