About
Welcome to ‘A Healthy Slice of Life‘! I’m Brittany and this is my blog. I live my healthy lifestyle in the Lake Norman area, just north of Charlotte, NC.
If you’re new to the blog, let me introduce you to the main players:
Brittany

I have been fascinated by health and nutrition since I was in 6th grade and arranged the items in my mom’s pantry by fat grams per serving. Thus began my love/hate relationship with food and the diets that ensued. Then, while attending The University of Georgia, I managed to gain 25ish pounds above my healthy weight, and at 5’1”, every pound showed. After trying every diet and weight loss trick out there and yo-yoing up and down, I decided to learn the skills to get the weight off in a healthy way, and keep it off for good.
Through the years after college, I became an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified Fitness Instructor, an ACE certified Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant, a health coach, then a healthy living blogger. I owned and operated a metabolic testing and health coaching company until spring of 2012, when I sold it to stay at home with Hailey.
Though I miss individual health coaching, I love what I am doing now. I am a mom to Hailey and blog about navigating the challenges of healthy living as a mom. I am passionate about and promote healthy eating, especially for children. On the side, I do some social media work and freelance writing for various publications.
David
Hands off, ladies! It took 5 years of dating to get this stud to marry me. ;) David and I balance each other out perfectly and life with him is always an adventure! He enjoys brewing (and drinking) beer, home projects, playing soccer, sailing (when he gets the chance), getting out on the lake and picking on me for all the crazy foods I bring into the house and make him eat!
Hailey
Hubbs and I were blessed with a healthy, beautiful baby girl on September 15, 2011. I wrote all about my pregnancy as I tried to stay as healthy as possible with ‘Baby D’ and my journey back to my ‘fighting weight’ afterwards.
Koda

This little rascal is our 5 year old vizsla pup! She is the biggest sweetheart you’ll ever meet, with tons of energy! She loves chasing minnows in the lake, long hikes and snuggling up to give you kisses.

Self disclosure invites openness and self analysis by the reader. Again, you lead and inspire with your life style and educational information.
Thank you! It wasn’t fun going back through old pictures to find a ‘before’ shot… funny how I couldn’t find many (I must have deleted them back when I first saw them
). but if I can live in a healthy way now, anyone can! Thanks for reading

Thanks for the comments yall! I love what I do, and feel so fortunate to be able to do it. Although I took a number of nutrition classes in college, my degree is actually in journalism and psychology. I’m am certified through ACE (American Council on Exercise), but there several good certification programs out there. Although I am not an RD, I work closely with one when designing nutrition plans for my clients. I’d love to answer any other questions you have, and thank you for reading… I’ll be following your blogs as well!

Ich will zunehmen!
