Dear Blue Apron,
First let me say that I love your service! My family and I have enjoyed multiple deliveries of your family plan ($8.74 a person is far more reasonable than hitting up our local burger joint) and I appreciate the convenience of your front door delivery. The ingredients you’ve sent me have always arrived fresh in their refrigerated box and perfectly portioned.
Though I cook fairly often, I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of new techniques your service has taught me. Cooking rice in coconut milk was especially cool and you helped me get over my hesitation about making mashed potatoes (the heavy cream addition really sealed the deal).
I like that you don’t require any long term commitment and that the dishes can be made in 40 minutes or less.
Basically, I want you to know how much I enjoy what you offer.
However, after my most recent delivery, I did notice a couple areas that you may be able to approve upon. Knowing that you are an in-touch, consumer-friendly company that listens to your customers, I hoped that you might consider my following recommendations.
1. Consider an adult beverage add-on option. Is it legal to mail moonshine? I ask because I can’t be the only mom cooking with the “help” of young children.
No, no, of course the moonshine isn’t for them (unless… no, no… I digress). OK, so maybe not moonshine, but perhaps a nice bottle of wine? And while we are at it, perhaps you could even work it into your beautifully illustrated step-by-step instructions so my husband understands it is a crucial step.
Example: Step 1: Unscrew wine (because ain’t nobody got time for real corks) and pour 4-6 ounces into a wine glass. Consume a generous gulp before advancing to the next step. Repeat to desired taste.
2. Consider a cooking-with-kids ingredient sampler add-on. I love that you include such fresh, delicious ingredients, I really do. However, if you are going to include pineapple (or fresh cheese or candied ginger or delicious sauces) again in the future, can you provide a little box for me to click to request that you send 3x the amount of that single ingredient? With the last dish I made that included pineapple, I ended up with only one tiny cube of it on my entire plate once my sweet little “helpers” had their way.
PS- Koda also wanted me to add that any leftover bones could be forwarded to our address as well. She also is nudging me right now about adding a doggy-scrap-add-on, but I told her that’s just too much to ask. (…or is it? Just a thought!)
3. Soap and a hose. I’m one of the fortunate customers that already has the floor cleanup covered thanks to my four-pawed pal. However, though my enthusiastic eaters devour your recipes, their hand eye coordination could use a little work and we often end the meals like this:
The filling really is the best part of the empanada, no?
Unless you can provide a nanny to teach better table etiquette than I can, please consider including the aforementioned… or an additional delivered box full of wipes.
In closing, I really appreciate you taking the time to review my feedback. I’ll keep an eye out for these changes in my future orders and will be sure to alert my friends that they can get their first two Blue Apron meals FOR FREE by clicking this link AND that you are launching in Texas in early June- whoop!
Sincerely,
Brittany
PS- can I get this delivered next time? YUM!!

Hey Brittany,
We seem to always be writing and thinking about the same things. I was doing a test with Blue Apron to put on my blog too. Your writing always make me laugh keep it coming! Have you tried Plated yet? I was going to do a test with them and see the difference in prices and deliciousness of food. (Not sure if that’s actually a word or not) 🙂 Even though I don’t drink wine, I think that’s a great idea!!! Many woman would definitely order more! Great suggestion.

Sorry for the blank comment… Apparently, emoticons with tears from laughing so hard don’t show up. But anyway…

I had a question about portion sizes. There’s a 2 and a 4 person option. I have 4 people in my family, but my youngest is two months old and won’t be eating that yet. My toddler has a hearty appetite. Will the 2 person have enough to share with my toddler, or do I need to go to 4 and just plan for leftovers?

Creating that feeling in your bathroom without remodeling and on a budget is easy and accessible.
In addition to an extensive selection of bathroom sinks to
select from, you will also discover that you have several places
to buy a bathroom sink from. You must be wondering,
how is all this even remotely close to meditation.

I’ve never tried blue apron but I have heard about it from one of my friends and it makes me more curious upon reading your blog. I’m not good at cooking but if I have a guide or something that I can follow with I can cook it somehow. Gonna try this one one of this days
