This morning was just one of those mornings that I could’t get it together. I could go into the details, but it’s all stuff you’ve heard before: the toddler wanted to do everything herself which makes getting a cup of water turn into a 20 minute affair. The four year old got caught lying to me which resulted in me taking the clock from her room, which is equivalent to the world ending judging by her reaction. On top of that, my head is just in a fog, like one of those dreams when you’re trying to run but you’re stuck in slow motion.
Like I said, just couldn’t get it together. These are the times that I remember this blog is first and foremost for FUN, and though I like consistency, taking a day off isn’t the end of the world either. So that’s what I decided on… to take the day off.
…until this picture popped up on my screensaver.
and made me smile.
I’m not usually one to share birthdays on the blog because with all the wonderful family and friends I have, it would turn into one online birthday card after another. However, after seeing that handsome, smiling face, I just couldn’t resist.
Today is David’s birthday!
I’m going to pause and let you look at that picture one more time because… awwww so cute!!
And though that probably isn’t significant information to most of you, it’s one of the most important days in the world to me. It’s the day that makes me reflect on how grateful I am that 35 years ago today he came into this world (and how grateful I am to his parents for raising such a good one!)
It’s also the day that I hope I can get away with posting these adorable pictures on a public forum.
It’s the day I can publicly share how much he means to me while I take a brief stroll down memory lane.
As cliche as it may sound, David is my rock and my best friend.
He is smart, honest, hard working and looks damn good in German hats.
He is fun and makes me laugh constantly. Life with him is never dull and there is definitely no one else I’d rather live this adventure with.
So forgive the public gush fest, but this man deserves to be celebrated.
He’s been a more amazing husband than I ever could have imagined and to watch him as a dad brings me so much joy.
Hearing the girls scream with excitement and run to the door when he comes home is a testament to just how incredible of a dad he is.
I don’t know how I got so lucky.
So tonight we will feast on homemade fajitas (birthday boy’s request) and toast to these past 35 years and all the adventures still to come.
Happy birthday babe!! I love you so much!

So cute! Also, I definitely see a lot of baby David in Kaitlyn! It’s so funny how when you looks at someone’s baby pictures it’s so much easier to see them in their kids.
