Are you sick of hearing about 2015 yet? Ha. I feel like the new year is just getting kicked into gear for me today.
I’ve really enjoyed what has felt like a long holiday season, as we’ve had David’s family in town the past couple of days.
Hailey has been on cloud nine getting to run around with her cousins. She even got to sleep in the same room as them and loved it, despite her lack of sleep leading to an epic meltdown or two. Being three is tough. Still, the fact that she begged to continue sleeping on the floor even after they left told me that she did just fine.
The adults did just fine, too. With the kids running around and playing, we were left with time to talk and eat.
And cook of course. I got such a kick out of seeing what it would be like to feed five hungry kids on a regular basis.
But it really was fun to spend so much time together, as it doesn’t happen very often.
And though it was cold outside, the sun shone, so we got to run around, build fires, roast marshmallows and shoot off fireworks. I’ve never seen Hailey run so frantically as she did after lighting the fuse on a Roman candle (obviously she had help from Grandpa and wasn’t doing that herself). All in all, a great visit.
Now the house is picked up and we’re left with a weekend ahead of us before real life begins again, I’m pretty psyched. I’m hoping to get a jump start on the January Organization Challenge (anyone joining me on that venture?!), plan out some meals, clean out my email inbox, brainstorm some blog topics and finalize some details on a project I have in the works. Wild times over here, but looking forward to beginning this new year feeling on top of things!
What areas of your life are you hoping to focus on this year?
Are there any topics you think would make for fun blog posts?
Anyone else psyched to start eating vegetables again?

Yes, I started cleaning and organizing yesterday without realizing I was doing it! I can’t wait to start the challenge. I love a fresh start to the year.

Happy New Year! What happened to the New Year’s Day soup?? Looks like you went back to old faithful!
Brittany Dixon says
I actually ate the remaining leftover soup too (lots of luck and love coming my way in this new year ;)), but after eating soup for a few days, I decided to switch it up a bit too!

Happy New Year! I think I could definitely use the Organization challenge, and after taking a quick peek at last year’s it looks like I already accomplished day 1 since we did indeed take down Christmas decorations yesterday! I might as well keep going while I’m already on track. 😉 Organization is my biggest goal this year as is getting fit and actually getting rid of my jiggly mommy tummy once and for all.

Looks like a lovely visit with family! And yes, please pass the veggies! I have not had a chance to check out your organization challenge, but I am definitely setting some organizational goals for myself. Happy new year!

I love all the family pictures! Happy 2015!
I am doing something similar to the 31 day challenge…although I am stretching mine out all through 2015. I am designating a room or zone each month to declutter and organize. I am starting with (probably) the most difficult this month – the kitchen. This includes the freezer, fridge, pantry, all of the drawers and cupboards.
And this year I will not be blogging about decluttering, unless I just want to. I tried to do that last year, and it was just TOO much. Plus, my Google analytics told me that not many people read my non-food material anyway!
Brittany Dixon says
Probably a good idea to stretch it over the year! The January challenge wore me out but mannnn did I feel like a rockstar come February 😉 Happy 2015 Marjorie!

That last photo of you and Kaitlyn is so perfect! Love it!
I’m focusing on getting my post-baby finances under control & getting some of “me” back! (Shopping for a toddler is so much fun, though!)
Brittany Dixon says
We were just discussing finances last night too! We planned out some goals to save for, which always makes me more motivated to watch the budget. Agreed though, little ones are so tempting to buy for 😉 Happy 2015!!
Jen says
Holy mackerel that picture of you and Kaitlyn is adorable!
Areas of focus for me are building my business and adding regular strength training (other than carrying around my gigantic 21 lb baby) back into the mix.
I haven’t been too bad about vegetables, but I do want to get back to dark chocolate being my go-to treat instead of all of the delicious sugary things that are available around the holidays!

Great pictures of family festivities. The picture of you and Kaitlyn belong on a magazine cover!

Sounds like you guys had fun and props to you on the meal and hosting front!!! I definitely want to put more focus on the blog this year (one of my goals is to double my analytics!), and make sure I’m moving in the right direction for what I want to do – ultimately something in the health realm — shocker alert?!?!
I also just put together an organizational calendar which includes somethings that will work towards my goals and we’ll see how that goes and then get some ideas for February from there!

Your grip on Koda in that family photo is hysterical!
Brittany Dixon says
Ah, yes, death grip of Koda’s scruff was the only way to get her in the picture ha! #dogtrainingfail

I am SO ready to eat more veggies! I love casseroles and hearty winter food, but I’m looking forward to some lighter food!
Kari @ Cooking with Toddlers says
I love the pic of you holding your dog; hilarious! Sounds like such a fun holiday season you had!
Alex @ get big, go to work says
Your family is just too cute!! That is wonderful you were able to stretch out the holidays and spend time with David’s family too! I’ve been off the past two weeks, and it is definitely going to be a challenge getting back into the swing of things with work on Monday. Yikes! My body is definitely craving all things green and healthy right now too. I’m excited to start incorporating more of them into my diet now that things are slowing down and getting back to normal around here.
Danica @ It's Progression says
I’m certainly excited for what this year has to bring. My main focus is to enjoy each day and not just spend my time *waiting* for something to come – I’m all too guilty of being excited for future things instead of enjoying the moment.
Happy New Year!
Marnie @ SuperSmartMama says
After all the indulgent meals we had over the holidays, I’ve already started eating more veggies (yes, guilt eating, in a good way). I’m embracing salads with variety and continuing my love affair with roasted veggies (brussel sprouts, broccoli, butternut squash, you name it!)
Matt says
Yes veggies!!!!!
