This weekend was a wonderful! David was out of town and it was my mom’s birthday, so Hailey and I headed down to Georgia to soak up some family time. We left Friday and stopped at the Charlotte Nature Museum on our way for a play date with friends. Do you have any idea how challenging it is to wrangle this many kiddos for a picture? It’s quite the feat!
We are so bummed that Cindi is moving, so Emily, Susan, Jen, Jenny and I all did our best to get this group together. I wish we could do it more often!
A few hours later I arrived at mom and dad’s place. Hailey was giddy to see her Nana, Papa John and Grandma Betty. I was giddy to have extra helping hands! Saturday was gorgeous out and between walks to the playground and golf cart rides, I managed a little relaxing, too.
We played rumikub and ate delicious food. It looks spa-like doesn’t it?
We went out Saturday to an early dinner, where I fulfilled the pregnant stereotype by devouring shrimp…
followed by a plate of ribs all by muself. To think, my dad had the audacity to ask if I wanted to share!
Sunday, Kris, Cara, Kyla, my Aunt Cynde and Nannie came over to join in the birthday celebration!
It’s so rare that we can get so many family members together, so I really relish in it when we do.
Dad grilled up some great burgers and Hailey did laps around the table while we all sat and ate.
Nannie made her famous carrot cake and we all sang. Hailey really wanted to help Nana blow out a candle, so apparently mom is turning 8 years old. Still, it got the job done!
I’d try to convey to you how delicious Nannie’s cake is, but I think this ‘after’ shot of Hailey says it all.
Oh so good.
I loved getting to be with my momma on her birthday!
We headed home yesterday afternoon. Realizing the next time I see my family, I’ll probably be holding the newest member in my arms, I made a mental check list of things I needed to get done on the ride home. Hailey and I made it home just in time for dinner (pizza), David had finished all the laundry and picked up the house (shameless brag), and the most thoughtful package arrived on my doorstep. Have I mentioned I have freaking awesome friends?
Feels like a great start to the week to me! Let’s do this thing.
What was one highlight from your weekend?

What a lovely picture of you and your mom- two beautiful ladies! We had a weekend of celebrations too…. my sister’s baby shower on Saturday (she’s due just 8 weeks before me) and my husband’s birthday yesterday. 🙂

That’s nice that you got to spend your mom’s birthday with her! My mom’s birthday was Friday, but I didn’t get to see her. We celebrated hers the weekend before though, so that was nice. We had a whole lotta family time going on this weekend doing nothing really!

Is it just me or do we always eat really really well when you go to our mom’s? They always have our favorite foods and dinners prepared. I think that’s how they ensure we come back (not that I need the food to lure me!). 🙂
Tell your mom I said Happy 25th Birthday! Gorgeous ladies in your family!
