Yesterday I was so hungry. All day long. To the point that I got nauseas in the afternoon because I hadn’t eaten in oh… an hour and a half? I think between my high exercise level (with Tina’s boot camp!) and nursing, my calorie requirement is shooting through the roof. I’m doing the best I can to keep up.
Breakfast started off with 1 egg on half of a whole wheat hamburger bun (hey, use what you have, right?!) with vegetable cream cheese Blueberries on the side.
I ate the other half of the hamburger bun with peanut butter and chia seeds right before heading to the gym for my 50 minutes of cardio boot camp workout.
After some wogging and biking, I downed a salad (mixed baby greens, orange pepper, grape tomatoes, onion, cannellini beans, mushrooms, feta and Newman’s Own Balsamic) and a side of 2% cottage cheese.
Followed not too far after by a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese… on a hamburger bun, of course.
I ended up going on a 4 mile walk with my neighborhood friend during the late afternoon, which inevitably had me hungry again.
I inhaled a large bag of low fat microwave popcorn sprinkled with nutritional yeast, always known in the blog world as nooch. It gives the popcorn a cheesy flavor and adds a healthy dose of B vitamins, too.
Then I ate an apple. After I wiped off all the baby drool.
Dinner was an awesome salad combo. Romaine, onions, grape tomatoes, black beans, avocado, feta, jalapenos and grilled shrimp with buffalo ranch (mix Texas Pete WING sauce with ranch). Seriously delicious.
I don’t have much of a sweet tooth myself, but after fixing David a caramel vanilla ice cream bowl with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and chopped Reese’s, I had to snag a bite or two of his dessert… just to try it out
Whew.
See? Bottomless pit.
At least I got in plenty of greens!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Ha! I’ve definitely had burger buns for breakfast before just to use them up!
I usually eat lots and lots and lots of peanut butter on those days that I just can’t seem to get enough food in!
MigraineMe says
I agree – I eat a lot of peanut butter and many times, I mix the pb with greek yogurt and some nuts! That will keep me full for a while, and I have (on more than one occasion) had more than one serving of this little filling snack in a day!

Steve and I are on a healthy kick since the wedding is less then 2 months away and I was going to make shrimp tonight, but I wanted to make it healthy. I am definitely trying that salad tonight!
Brittany says
I think it’s my new fav salad combo. I seasoned the shrimp with a little old bay before grilling them on my panini press. Let me know what you think!
Brittany says
PS- your wedding will be here before you know it- such an exciting time!!
Heather says
I made the salad last night and it was phenomenal. It had so much flavor. Steve said it is his #1 salad behind Cesar salads. Also I put a little twist on the dressing. Instead of buying ranch I purchased the dry packet ranch, mixed 2 tbsp of that with 6oz plain 0% Greek yogurt, and 2 tbsp of milk and the hot sauce to give us a few less calories. I also recommended it to my two co-workers and they can’t wait to try it. Thanks for this great recipe.

I wouldn’t say you’re a bottomless pit … that looks pretty normal to me! And everything looks delicious … especially that ice cream! 😉
Brittany says
Yes, looking back the amount doesn’t look like that much, but I felt like I was eating constantly! Not that I’m complaining- I just need to revisit the grocery 😉
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I want EVERYTHING in this post…but especially the popcorn. I have been eating popcorn in massive amounts lately!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I kinda love/hate those days where you feel like you need to eat every hour or so. It seems like your meals weren’t too calorie dense though each time so it was just a” eat less more often” kind of day 🙂
Brittany says
I think eat less more often is my thing. I need to look into more calorie dense meals, but I like lighter fare. Usually I add enough cheese or peanut butter to bulk it up, but I eat like every 2 hours. Sometimes it’s nice (YAY MORE FOOD!), but other times it’s annoying.
Jen says
i have had so many bottomless pit days lately…looks like a good day of eating to me!
Bethany @ Forever After Blog says
Nutritional yeast on popcorn, what a great idea!
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
I’m a bottomless pit right there with you lately. Bring on the food!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I try to snack on fruit but lately a girl scout cookies helps. 🙂 So healthy…
Brittany says
David bought girl scout cookies, but he got the sucky kind (AKA no tagalongs) so I’m not too tempted 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
Tagalongs are my weakness.
Katie @ Legally Fit says
I get nauseous if I don’t eat enough- at one point I was so nauseous I took a pregnancy test to make sure! Phew for the negative! I mean, we want more children but that’s not for a bit hopefully 🙂
Brittany says
Full disclosure, I, too, took a preg test, just to make sure because the nausea freaked me out. It was negative – phew (I share the same sentiment about wanting more kiddos, but not now). It kicked my butt into gear about deciding on a birth control method though.
Heather says
I actually made myself a bowl of microwave popcorn as well yesterday because I was starving after dinner!
I used the brown bag cooking method and grated some parmesan cheese on top. Delicious!
Brittany says
mmmm… parm! What a great topping!
Rachel @ My Naturally Frugal Family says
I hear you on the hamburger buns…nothing wrong with using what you have (plus they are pretty tasty toasted).
A great day of eats no matter how much you had to have to feel sated.
P.S. Baby girl is growing up so fast and so beautiful.
Liz @ Southern Charm says
YUM! Your eats look amazing!
Whenever I am a bottomless pit, I usually grab some almonds. SOmething about them tends to fill me up, at least for a bit!
KaraHadley says
First, that picture of Hailey is so freaking adorable.
Second, the only thing that seems to help on days when nothing fills me up is fat. I’ll eat ample amounts of anything fatty — avocados, nut butter, cheese.
Emily McIntyre says
It’s great to realize another nursing mom eats as much as I do! But you have used much greater ingenuity than I in filling the yawning maw within. I’m taking notes!

Mmm everything looks awesome. Especially your dinner salad! I love that she’s gnawing on the apple. Healthy mom makes for a healthy baby!!
Rebekah says
Love your blog! I don’t know why I never thought of simply adding texas pete to ranch to create “spicy ranch.” Always bought the already-made kind.
Also, love that you used a hamburger bun as a bagel/sandwich bread substitute. Gotta use what you’ve got 🙂
Antonia @ healthinspirations says
That grilled-cheese sandwich looks amazing 😉 I did my first WIAW post today and I’ve spent most of the day checking out everyone’s different eats.
I’m also taking part in Tina’s Bootcamp…best decision in a very long time. Loving it so far 🙂
Laura says
Yum- it all looks delicious!! I was a bottomless pit when nursing too, and then with running on top of it, I was regularly out-eating my husband. 🙂
Trainer Kjirsten says
Yum, that salad looks great! I need to get creative with salad and try your salad creation out! I can relate to you on the extra calories the body needs when nursing and working out! I feel like a bottomless pit most day of the week! Especially since I just got cleared to workout again last Friday.

Hi Brittany. Sure looks like a day of healthy eats to me. I must be sheltered, I’ve never heard the term “nooch” but I use nutritonal yeast ALOT. Love it… Have a great Thursday, hugs to your gorgeous girl with the apple!!!
