You should be reading this and drooling on your computer in awe of the TWO recipes I managed to create during Hailey’s 45 minute nap yesterday, but…

they were a total bust. Yup, both of ‘em.

bean salad fail

I chopped, diced and photographed my little heart out, only to end up feeling like I wasted time and food.

Determined to turn the gloomy day around

foggy LKN

I forced myself to the gym, but 2.75 miles in to the 4-ish I was scheduled to do, I turned off the treadmill. I couldn’t do it anymore. I was so tired. So was Hailey.

one of those days

I didn’t get to my email inbox until 8:00pm because I was busy with my munchkin, and by then, I was ready to turn in for the night. Instead, I grabbed some peanut butter and chocolate chips, turned on the Bachelor and played on pinterest.

It’s amazing what pinterest can do when you’re in some need of inspiration…

Best kitchen tip… place a wooden spoon over a boiling pot and it won’t boil over. (Can anyone confirm this?)

Neatest Home Idea… a hinged canvas that covers up your thermostat

Place I want to Transport to… Zanzibar Islands.

And finally,

Why correct punctuation still needs to be taught in school…

In conclusion, TGFP.

Thank Goodness for Pinterest.

Haha, love the grandpa grammar lesson. I would kill to be on that kayak in that water right now. Instead, I’m in sweats behind a computer desk and it’s 45 degrees outside. Not fair.

What a great post – I have days like that frequently (although I don’t have a child) where nothing seems to go right.

I usually just “call it a day” and try again tomorrow.

I love pinterest. I may need to have my husband change my password.

haha Pinterest ♥ it. The only way I can pull myself away is for the ap to crash on my iPad. Otherwise I’d still be on it!

I’ve using the “wooden spoon in a pot” trick for over 10 years (a tip I learned from my mother-in-law) and I can confirm that it does work when boiling pasta :)

Ah! Fabulous! Thank you for the confirmation. :)

I hope I remember this! I have trouble with boiling over anytime I boil potatoes unless I literally stand there staring at the pot the whole time. Must try!

I couldn’t agree more! Pinterest and Etsy are my go-to sites when I need some cheering up.

I love Pinterest, especially since I’m wedding planning right now! It’s so nice to be able to ‘pin’ ideas I see online and have them all in one place. :)

I love that last one about grandpa…proper punctation is so important!

I don’t understand Pinterest! I keep hearing about it and seeing it pop up on other blogs and FB posts. Can someone please explain, since I’m out of the loop?

OK nevermind, I played around on Pinterest for 5 minutes and I’m in love! Just found an awesome recipe for crock-pot chicken that is so easy I can make one-handed while holding a squirmy baby. I’m such a noob!

That’s the best comment(s) ever! HA! I love that you instantly “got” it, if only that happened so quickly with me and Twitter…still trying to figure that one out.

DON’T put a canvas over your thermostat!!! What kind of smarty-pants came up with that one?!

It will keep your thermostat from functioning properly. It needs to be exposed to the temperature (and sometimes humidity) of your room unimpeded or your heat/AC will be running all crazy-like.

Yikes – sorry yesterday was “one of those days”! I actually have a canvas picture over our electrical box (which I’m pretty sure is illegal) because it’s in our bathroom and totally is not nice uncovered.

I’ve had the wooden spoon trick work with pasta, but not with oatmeal, unfortunately.

Rachel Starr January 24, 2012 at 3:36 pm

I’ve never tried the wooden spoon trick, but I also add a dash of olive oil to my pasta water & that keeps it from bubbling over.

I adore that quote, grammar really is so important and I know that certainly over here in the UK we are not taught enough!
Chocolate chips are such a good snack idea but I’m not sure I’d trust myself to stop eating after only having had a few… :-P
And transport to the Zanzibar Islands sounds amazing right now!
