Some day just fly by and yesterday was one of those days. It started with the 3 ring circus that was my morning. By the time I fed Hailey, fed Koda, let Koda out, got myself dressed, cleaned up some spit up (overfed her- oops!), changed my outfit, changed a diaper, let Koda out again and got everything ready to go, I realized I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, so I grabbed a banana and a spoonful of Wild Squirrel pretzel pizazz peanut butter with a decaf coffee and ran out the door… after snapping a picture, of course.
It was worth it. I made it to pilates- SCORE.
After class I came home in need of a snack and grabbed a yogurt smoothie out of the fridge. The nice people at DAHlicious Lassi sent me some samples of their Indian style yogurt drink to try and post work out was the perfect opportunity.
Strawberry was the first one I grabbed and I loved its smooth texture and natural strawberry taste. The list of ingredients is short and sweet- milk, strawberries, cane juice and vegetable fiber. Yum!
After taking the edge off of my hunger I could relax and make myself a salad.
Spinach, romaine, red onions, goat cheese, avocado and parsley with Newman’ Own Light Balsamic. I gobbled this down, then Hailey and I were off to a play date. My new friend, Jodi, offered me some ginger peach tea and a blueberry oatmeal muffin. How could I say no?!
FYI, I totally snapped this picture discretely from my iPhone. I wasn’t quite ready to let her know I was a crazy person and take pictures of my food… and every other moment of my life.
From there, we went straight to the pediatrician for Hailey’s 4 month appointment. She had to get shots, which I hate, but I love hearing her measurements!
I realized by the time we left and dropped off books at the library that I was HUNGRY. I ordered mixed veggies and brown rice from Fusion Bowl and after picking it up, I couldn’t wait to get home so I parked and snagged a few bites in the car.
I finished up all the veggies and 1/2 the box of rice when I got home… then I got busy playing with Hailey and taking care of other important tasks (like finding out why Chuck and Blair aren’t together… stupid car wreck ruined everything!) which turned into bath and bedtime and then I realized I hadn’t eaten dinner. Since Hubbs was working late, I had totally forgotten to make myself dinner, so I nuked a sweet potato and topped it with Smart Balance, cinnamon and sugar.
Though it was tasty, I was glad when Hubbs arrived home around 9:30 with sushi rolls in hand.
We split a yellow fin roll and a California roll before calling it a night… at 9:45. Because we’re wild like that.
How do you try and stay healthy when your day gets busy?
I always keep almonds on me in case of emergencies. I also keep packs of peanut butter, though I don’t know why. I have nothing to put it on I guess I’d just squeeze it into my mouth? Sigh… I’m strange.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
That first picture is hysterical. What a face! I keep pb packets with me too, we can be strange together.
Brittany says
Weirdness loves company. Isn’t that how the saying goes? 🙂
Krista says
There is nothing strange about squeezing PB in your mouth! I’d probably just carry a jar around and use my finger to get it out. That’s when baby essentials come in handy, I always need wipes after I do that at home.
Whitney says
That picture of Hailey on the doctor’s table is absolutely adorable. She looks like so much fun! 🙂
Madeline says
Is there something wrong with just squeezing PB into your mouth? LOL. And Hailey is adorable as always.
Lee says
I definitely do the stealth iphone picture when I don’t want to explain why I’m taking pictures of my food.
Michaela says
the first pic of the two of you is absolutely hilarious!!
and you are not strange for carrying around pb to squeeze into your mouth. I have been there, too 😉
I always take water and usually some almonds and dried fruit when I am out. I often bring an apple as well.
Parita @ myinnershakti says
I can’t get enough of Hailey!!! She’s SO cute!
And my go to snack when I’m on the go is usually a bar of some sort or a piece of fruit.
Oh and I love lassis’ – must try those ASAP!
Brittany says
I’ll be giving away some free coupons to try them out soon- so stop back by 🙂 They’re yummy.
Suzanne says
I love that Hailey has found her feet! LB has his, but only when he’s sitting up. His belly is too big otherwise. Can’t wait to hear how big that sweet little girl is getting! She is super precious. Oh, and if you want, please send some of that good-sleep-juju this way because we are still working on it out here. Have a great day 🙂
Brittany says
Sleep juju sent. Please let me know when you receive it. 😉
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I try to keep little snacks on me as well, but usually on the weekends I’m not as hungry. At work, i bring fruit/veggies to snack on.
The lighting in that salad picture is REALLY good! It looks delicious!
Brittany says
Gotta love the outdoors for good lighting! I wish I could take credit for a good picture, but it’s all my fancy camera and dumb luck- haha!
Allison K says
I would totally squeeze pb in my mouth! I keep a jar of almond butter in my desk and dip a spoon into it when hunger emergencies strike.
Robyn (GirlonRaw) says
I love keeping healthy (or trying to) when busy by just throwing ingredients in a blender and whizzing to make a sweet or savoury smoothie. You’d be surprised how much like apple sauce this tastes like: cabbage, golden apples, dates, zucchini & water. Keeps me buzzing and energised till I can sit down for something more substantial.
Just mailed you some more stuff re BLW xxx
Shari says
That first picture is the cutest thing ever!

Okay I’m a crazy neurotic planner, so I totally know when my day si ging to be hectic and I plan ahead – snacks, pre-made meals, you name it!
Brittany says
Why you gotta make the rest of us look bad? 😉 I usually plan very well, but this whole baby nonsense sometimes throws me for a loop!
Roz says
I love “sneaking” in photos when I’m with people I’m not ready to share blog info with. Funny!!! And how cute is that picture of Hailey finding her feet. What a great age she is! Have a good Wed.
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
That first pic of you and Hailey has to be the cutest thing EVER. You must frame it!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Definitely lots of snall snacks on busy days! Granola bars, dry cereal, nuts, string cheese, fruit, carrot sticks, etc! 🙂
And your daughter is SO cute!! I love those cheeks!
Shannon says
Agree, first picture is ridiculously, grossly, amazingly adorable. I love winter because I can keep two or three clementines in my bag and at my desk and I’m covered when I want a bite of something sweet. I’m not saying that does the trick when I’m seriously needing CHOCOLATE, but it’ll work in a pinch 🙂
Autumn@Good Eats Girl says
I always have granola bars or something in my purse as a snack!
We are wild and crazy like you guys…and were in bed around 945 also! The craziness! 🙂
Lindsay@FuelMyFamily says
I just do the best I can. Tonight that was me and Alyssa drinking smoothies in the car on our way to a volunteering meeting where we knew we’d be having pizza.
Kristi @ SimplyKristi says
That first picture is so cute!
You got a lot accomplished in one day! But, had a lot of good food too. I find that when I’m running around so much my food choices unfortunately suffer… That salad looks delicious…what else is on top?
Kalee says
Your pictures are so cute!! Sweet potato and sushi all in one day?? my favorites!! 🙂
