Although the day didn’t go exactly according to my plan, it was an incredible day, because at the end of it, I gave birth to my daughter… and there are no words to describe what that feels like.

She arrived wide-eyed and alert after only 4 pushes.  She has more expressions than I can describe.  She already makes me laugh.

The 3-d ultrasound was right- baby girl has a head of hair- it’s so soft!

I feel so fortunate because she latched on right away and is already a champion eater.  She’s eating every 3-4 hours for about 30 minutes each time, then sleeps for the majority of the time in between.  She must be doing things right because my milk came in with 36 hours.  She is fussy at times, of course, but I’m amazed that it hasn’t been as crazy as I pictured.

She checked out beautifully and I feel so blessed to have a healthy baby girl.  After 2 nights in the hospital, we headed home Saturday around noon.

We loved having our families here to meet her when she entered the world.

and Aunt Cara was there, too!

Long story short, it’s been a whirlwind of a past 5 days.  I can’t believe 5 days have passed, but I also feel like it’s been a lifetime… a wonderful lifetime and now I can’t imagine life any other way. Cliché, but true.  I love my little family.

You all have been amazing. Thanks so much for checking in on me and sending us all the sweet congratulatory notes! I’m so excited to finally have Hailey here, to be able to say SHE and to start our journey of life as a family.  I’m also looking forward to turkey sandwiches, fro-yo, wine, exercising and be able to lay on my tummy.
